About the team

The HashiCorp R&D Operations group is dedicated to driving operational excellence across our rapidly scaling R&D organization. Within this group, the R&D Productivity team focuses on building and refining processes, systems, and practices that empower our Engineering, Product Management, and Design teams to deliver high-value products efficiently and effectively. Our mission is to enable seamless collaboration, optimize execution, and support continuous improvement, ensuring R&D can meet the growing complexity of our business with agility and impact.

What you’ll do (responsibilities)

  • Define and lead the R&D organization's long-term Jira strategy, including serving as a Jira architect driving engagement, rollout, and enablement of optimized workflows, configurations, and dashboards
  • Oversee the design, development, and execution of the Jira Transformation and Governance program portfolio to establish standardized, scalable, and efficient Jira usage across the R&D organization.
  • Partner with the external consultancy group and internal teams to develop a strategic roadmap, and implement recommendations for Jira optimization.
  • Create and operationalize a governance model to maintain process consistency, support continuous improvement, and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Develop and implement the change management and enablement strategy, training programs, and communication plans to drive adoption of improved Jira practices and tools.
  • Produce process documentation, training materials, and knowledge hubs to support sustained adoption and a smooth transition to enhanced Jira practices.
  • Track engagement metrics, identify areas for improvement, and ensure alignment with key organizational objectives and performance KPIs.
  • Serve as a coach and mentor to our TPM team.

What you’ll need (basic qualifications)

  • Proven track record as a Staff TPM or similar, with a focus on large-scale program transformations within engineering organizations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Jira administration, automation, data analysis and reporting, and configuration of workflows and dashboards, with knowledge of related tools like Confluence and Jira Align to support cross-platform solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in overseeing enterprise-level Jira implementations, governance models, and optimization projects, ideally within organizations of comparable size and complexity.
  • A solid understanding of product and software development principles, technologies, and best practices.
  • Experience in driving cultural change and promoting continuous improvement through structured enablement and training strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills, a second-order thinker who can evaluate alternatives, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Expertise in building and maintaining knowledge management systems to support centralized documentation and training resources.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders across all levels with compelling narratives and a collaborative approach.
  • Skilled at navigating ambiguity with a strong bias for action and delivering measurable results.
  • Experience working with global or distributed teams, demonstrating effectiveness across time zones and diverse cultural settings.

What's nice to have (preferred qualifications)

  • Change management certifications like PROSCI or ACMP, showcasing expertise in driving organizational change and adoption.
  • Familiarity with SaaS or multi-cloud product environments, providing context for technical and operational challenges.
  • Knowledge of additional Atlassian tools, such as Jira Product Discovery, Jira Align, Confluence, and Trello.
  • Proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools like Tableau, Sigma or Power BI.
  • A technical background or scripting experience for advanced Jira automation and API integrations.
  • Understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and incident management workflows.
