Job Description:
A Digital Forensics Specialist is responsible for investigating cybercrime incidents and recovering digital evidence. They analyze digital devices and systems to uncover data related to security breaches, cyber-attacks, and other digital crimes. This role involves collecting, preserving, and analyzing digital evidence forensically soundly and preparing detailed reports for legal proceedings and internal investigations.
Skills and Experience:
- In-depth knowledge of digital forensics principles, methodologies, and best practices
- Proficiency in using forensic tools and software (e.g., EnCase, FTK, Autopsy, Cellebrite)
- Strong understanding of various operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS) and file systems
- Experience with mobile device forensics and cloud forensics
- Knowledge of network forensics and log analysis
- Familiarity with malware analysis techniques
- Understanding of cybercrime techniques and attack vectors
- Experience with e-discovery processes and tools
- Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements for digital evidence handling
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills
- Ability to explain technical findings to non-technical audiences
- Experience testifying as an expert witness in legal proceedings (desirable)
Language Requirement:
Strong English language abilities at a minimum of EFSET C1 level
Required Certifications:
- GCFA (GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst)
- EnCE (EnCase Certified Examiner) or equivalent
Optional Certifications:
- CFCE (Certified Forensic Computer Examiner)
- CCFE (Certified Computer Forensics Examiner)
- AccessData Certified Examiner (ACE)
- GCFE (GIAC Certified Forensic Examiner)
