About the role

We are looking for a Property Claims Specialist I to join our growing team!

This opportunity can be based in any of the following Intact Ontario offices: London/Mississauga (6925 Century Ave)/Ottawa.

What you'll do here:    

  • Evaluate property damage and evaluate replacement or restoration requirements including direct and in-person contact with insured, claimants, and service providers.
  • Prepare repair estimates using an automated appraisal system. 
  • Obtains from contractor’s repair cost agreements or quotations on the restoration.
  • Monitors and update labour and material costs to be paid within their region.
  • Compose summary reports on vendor performance and, if necessary, formulates recommendations for further action.
  • Maintain effective communication channels with claims departments. 
  • Establish and maintain productive business relationships with contractors and other service providers. 
  • Assist in the screening and review of contractors’ performance to meet professional and corporate standards.   
  • Manage and maintain automated appraisal system queue(s) and audit functions.


What you bring to the table:

  • University degree or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role
  • High-level knowledge of the Xactimate/XactAnalysis estimating software.
  • A minimum of 3 years related experience 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction and repair procedures 
  • Effective verbal communication skills with experience in interviewing, coaching and dealing with clients 
  • Good written communication skills to draft claims reports 
  • Computer proficient
