Salary Range: $64,000-$85,000
Your Role
Reporting to the Director, Compliance – West, the Compliance Officer is responsible for conducting compliance assessments, reviews and audits of all facets of corporate gaming operations, and ancillary operations, to identify compliance risks, control gaps, and potential non-compliance to help ensure Gateway’s compliance with internal policies and procedures and with regulatory agency laws, regulations, policies and standards. This role is accountable for contributing to the development and continuous improvement of the compliance program.

What You Bring
- 5-10 years experience in casino gaming or other highly regulated environment
- Post secondary education in accounting, business, or a comparable expertise preferred
- Compliance related professional certifications or designations an asset (e.g. compliance, risk, audit designations)
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Working knowledge and skills with compliance practices and control concepts
- Working knowledge of federal and provincial regulatory guidelines and standards as they relate to casino gaming
- Thorough understanding of overall casino gaming operations
- Working knowledge of AML legislation and practices
- Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential issues using well developed discretion and judgment
- Self motivated with the ability to work autonomously and effectively collaborate in a team
- Strong relationship management skills with the ability to influence people and facilitate collaboration
- Excellent communicator – both written and verbal English
- Detail oriented, reliable and efficient
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Solid working knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, email, Internet navigation, and presentation software
Key Responsibilities
- Promoting a culture of compliance throughout the organization
- Conducting diverse and specialized internal assessments, reviews or audits to ensure that compliance procedures and processes are effective.
- Assessing compliance or operational risks and developing risk management strategies.
- Identifying compliance issues that require follow-up or investigation and evaluating the adequacy of remediation plans.
- Producing compliance reports detailing the Compliance Program’s activities and results.
- Aiding internal or external auditors in compliance reviews and audits, when required.
- Developing, authoring and actioning compliance responses to regulatory audits.
- Consulting on and providing input into the review of internal policies, procedures and controls related to compliance to ensure they are addressing company obligations and best supporting the business.
- Developing and managing compliance relationships with Regulators and Crown Corporations such as GPEB, BCLC, and AGLC.
- Maintaining documentation of compliance activities, such as audits, emails, complaints received or investigation outcomes.
- Discussing, consulting on and working with management and employees to address emerging compliance issues.
- Reporting violations of compliance or regulatory standards to compliance management.
- Taking on additional responsibilities as required.
