Description

DOXA is seeking an experienced Sr. Claims Specialist to join our claims team. This position will utilize knowledge of general and professional liability claims handling practices to investigate, evaluate, and resolve assigned claims to achieve appropriate outcomes. The Sr. Claims Specialist will administer and resolve claims in a timely manner in accordance with legal statutes, policy provisions, and company guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and process complex or technically difficult commercial general liability and professional liability claims by investigating and gathering information to determine the exposure on the claim.
  • Manage claims through well-developed action plans to an appropriate and timely resolution.
  • Assess liability and resolve claims within evaluation.
  • Negotiate settlement of claims up to designated authority level.
  • Calculate and assign timely and appropriate reserves to claims; monitor reserve adequacy throughout the life of the claim.
  • Calculate and pay benefits due; approve and make timely claim payments and adjustments.
  • Prepare necessary state filings within statutory limits.
  • Manage the litigation process; ensure timely and cost-effective claims resolution.
  • Coordinate vendor referrals for additional investigation and/or litigation management.
  • Use appropriate cost containment techniques including strategic vendor partnerships to reduce overall cost of claims for our clients.
  • Communicate claim activity and processing with the injured party and the client; maintain professional client relationships.
Requirements
  • High school diploma required.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Insurance Designations preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience handling commercial general liability and professional liability claims as a claim adjuster and/or attorney.
  • Knowledge of Excess & Surplus lines preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Prior experience handling claims in various state jurisdictions.
  • Active Multi-state Adjuster’s license(s) required (specifically TX/FL/NY/CA).
  • Prior experience with Professional Liability claims dealing with Home Health Care, Skilled Nursing Facilities preferred.
