The Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Controller to join our dynamic accounting team for two privately held companies. The Controller will be responsible for supporting accounting and business functions across multiple e-commerce organizations. This position requires a hands-on approach to manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, and ensure GAAP compliant accounting transactions to produce accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in GAAP and cost accounting within a multi-entity organization that includes intercompany transactions, multiple state sales tax filings, compliance reporting, month-end close process, and financial statement consolidation.
Essential Functions

- Multi-state sales tax tracking, reconciliations, and manual filings (when needed).
- General ledger management.
- Month-end and year-end close journal entries and reconciliations.
- Intercompany transactions, allocations, notes, invoicing and billing.
- Reviews and approves accounts payable/accounts receivable transactions.
- Manages cash flow and prepares wire/fund transfers for CFO approval.
- Works with HR to conduct payroll runs and enter transactions.
- Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organizations.
- Assists CFO with 3rd party audits, financial requests, and reporting compliance.
- Prepares and consolidates accurate and GAAP compliant monthly & fiscal year-end financials.
- Keeps up to date on existing, new and revised acceptable accounting practices and procedures.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in Accounting, or a related field.
- Active CPA License.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Controller or equivalent experience.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Prior experience in E-Commerce, Manufacturing, Agriculture, or Health Food Industry.
- Experience working with Acumatica, Avalara, and Monday.com a plus.
- Prior experience working in a Multi-State, Multi-Entity Organization, preferred.
- Experience with Multi-State Sales Tax Filings, preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies that weigh up to 20 pounds, and to bend and stand as necessary.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position and business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. This position does not require travel.
