ABOUT THE JOB
The Financial Crimes Governance Risk Assessment and Risk Controls Sr. Compliance Associate will be a member of the Financial Crimes Governance Compliance team within Compliance Risk Management. They will provide support to the bank’s AML/BSA and OFAC Risk Assessment process by researching emerging risks, regulatory focus, and industry-related enforcement actions, in addition to analyzing and interpreting large amounts of data while applying a strong knowledge of AML/BSA and OFAC risks. The successful candidate also has a strong working knowledge of Issues Management including enterprise Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) processes as well experience with designing, documenting, and testing of controls and performing second line of defense verification of findings within the GRC system.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Organize annual refresh of risk assessment documentation
- Utilize open-source research to identify relevant enforcement actions, regulatory focus, and industry trending related to AML/BSA and OFAC topics
- Intimate knowledge of AML/BSA and OFAC risks to provide insights into observed trends, regulatory focus, and/or emerging risks
- Utilize internal risk and compliance software to source findings and controls applicable to risk assessment components and/or lines of business
- Filter internal dashboards to source quantitative Risk Assessment data to complete annual refresh
- Identify outliers, anomalies, and trending within the data and conduct high-level research
- Strong attention to detail and ability to review large documents; focusing on detail while retaining the big picture
- Remain thorough and organized while completing inter-related components of large documents
- Cultivate relationships with risk and line of business peers to facilitate research, cooperation, and reporting
- Knowledge of Enterprise Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) processes, procedures, and guidelines
- Experience in designing and documenting risks and controls in the GRC system
- Experience in performing control design and operating assessments or comparable testing, in compliance with Enterprise Risk Management requirements
- Issues management knowledge, including finding identification, drafting / entering findings and remediation plans in GRC, oversight of remediation and verification of remediation
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree required; substantial industry experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree; CRCM preferred.
- 2-3 years of experience as a financial services compliance professional, audit, bank regulator or other comparable experience.
- Strong knowledge of AML/BSA and OFAC regulations and requirements. Strong working knowledge of internal controls, risk assessments, issues management, and risk control and self-assessment processes.
- Strong relationship management and leadership skills. Proven ability to work in a team environment.
- Sound decision-making skills; able to make decisions independently and quickly.
- Solid written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate up and across the organization.
- Strong research skills coupled with strong problem solving/analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $70,000 to $80,000 annually depending on location and job-related factors such as level of experience. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.
