Your mission:

As our Backend Software Engineer (Java/Spring) you will be responsible for developing and improving our existing platform, and not shy away from contributing to frontend tasks when needed.

Your responsibilities:  

• You will be working closely with UX and product to influence the solution design with your expertise.
  
• Mentor engineers in best practices for developing great products.
• Pair program with and mentor other engineers in developing their technical and collaboration skills. 
• Foster a culture of technical quality and operational excellence within the Engineering Department.
  
• Be hands-on in designing and improving our product and platform. 
• Stay updated with the latest technologies and trends and innovate your team and department with your ideas. 

What you'll bring along to be successful: 

• You have at least 5 years of production experience building scalable products. Passionate about architecture best practices, and collaboration with UX designers to implement a great product.
  
• You are experienced with backend development concepts (Java / Spring) such as domain modeling, API design, SQL, and performance. You have the ability to work lower down the stack if needed. 
• You have production experience in building web frameworks using Spring Boot. 
• You show a willingness to be hands on and contribute to the other layers on the platform (e.g backend or infrastructure). 
• You have good judgement in making tradeoffs to balance short-term business needs with medium to long-term technical quality. 
• You demonstrate a strong problem-solving mindset and the ability to work autonomously with a sense of ownership. 
• You have excellent written & verbal communication skills in English and the ability to work well within a team and with teams across the engineering organization.
