What You Can Look Forward To:


Energy Recovery inc. is seeking a qualified candidate for an immediate job opening for the position of Technical Manager, Process Engineering Services, reporting to the Sr Director of Market and Application Development. The Technical manager is responsible for providing process engineering services to support sales of Energy Recovery’s desalination and water treatment products globally. Specifically, the successful candidate will develop tools and services that make it easier for Energy Recovery customers to successfully design, build and operate their processes with the company’s products. Applications include seawater reverse osmosis, wastewater and brackish reverse osmosis, nanofiltration, water transmission and several emerging hydraulic processes. 

What Will You Do?
  • Develop process guidelines, engineering documents, engineering analysis and specifications to facilitate implementation of Energy Recovery products in new and existing desalination and water treatment processes 
  • Develop and review process flow diagrams (PFDs), process and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), and process control diagrams (PCDs)
  • Develop and review control narratives and philosophies
  • Review system documents such as specifications and operations and maintenance (O&M) manuals
  • Lead and participate in and hazard and operability studies (HAZOPs)
  • Assist Aftermarket group in assessing existing (brownfield) customer processes, as requested
  • Assist Aftermarket group in system commissioning processes, as requested
  • Stay abreast of best practices and industry trends
  • Positively promote a safe and healthy work environment and employ safe work practices at all times, including documenting incidents and recommending and following through on corrective actions
  • Monitor compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain efficient communication and information sharing between Sales, Engineering, Applications and Product departments
  • All other duties as assigned

  • What You Bring to the Table:
  • 4+ years of process engineering and/or applications engineering experience in desalination or water/wastewater treatment. 
  • Bachelors or Master's preferred, in mechanical or chemical engineering
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Must be reliable, self-directed and capable of working independently minimal direction or supervision.
  • Must be able to work on numerous projects simultaneously and use sound judgment in prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines. 
  • Proactive, team-oriented person who can anticipate needs and take initiative with excellent follow-through. 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to present at industry conferences and to prospective customers. 
  • Travel up to 50% of the time
