What You Will Do

  • The Data & Platforms software engineer will be responsible for developing cloud-based, big data processing applications and other engineering support tools that are cutting edge for the aerospace industry.
  • As part of a large engineering organization, you will have a deep understanding of flight data and use cases for its analysis, and develop functional software to support a wide range of needs.
  • You will work within a dynamic, Agile team and consistently interface with groups of internal and external customers to understand needs and translate requirements to functional software to support them.
  • Develop distributed big data applications to support a wide variety of flight data analysis needs across a large engineering organization.
  • Develop well-designed front-end clients to interface with complex flight databases hosted in the cloud.
  • Take requirements from a large user base and translate them into functional software that supports those needs.
  • Engage in the development of flight data analytics designed to support fleets of military engine programs.

What You Will Learn

  • This role will give you exposure to a wide variety of engineering challenges. You will be involved in a critical role for Pratt & Whitney’s military engine programs.
  • This role primarily works with Python and AWS services, like ECS/ECR (container orchestration/registration), lambda serverless functions, s3 cloud object storage, etc.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 5  years of engineering experience, or An Advanced Degree with 3 years’ experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Python -- Military DPHM code base is primarily written in Python.
  • AWS services -- Military Data & Platforms leverages the following AWS services:
    • ECS/ECR (container orchestration/registration)
    • lambda serverless functions
    • S3 cloud object storage

Control & Diagnostic Systems (CDS) is a dynamic engineering organization focused on the development and certification of military, commercial and industrial gas turbine engine control and diagnostic systems.

CDS is responsible for all aspects of Pratt & Whitney engine control and diagnostic system development, including requirements analysis & definition, system & software architecture, algorithm design, and product software design, verification & validation. We integrate the control and diagnostic system design across other engine system modules and with the air vehicles and provide support throughout the complete engine product life cycle.

What is my role type?

In addition to transforming the future of flight, we are also transforming how and where we work. We’ve introduced role types to help you understand how you will operate in our blended work environment. This role is:

  • Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home).

This position is open to internal applicants only within Pratt & Whitney.  To help sure up our military programs, we are looking to reallocate resources to USG direct charging roles and therefore consider this to be an internal to Pratt movement.  We may look to open these opportunities upon more broadly once we complete the initial Pratt talent moves.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
