Content Editor

Nebraska Medicine is looking for a Content Editor with a keen eye for detail, who is comfortable leading editorial processes. In this role, you will serve as the final checkpoint for accuracy, consistency and brand on content before it is published. You will be responsible for upholding Nebraska Medicine’s brand as a trusted community resource. You’ll mentor the team in sparking ideas and help facilitate translating those ideas into compelling written and visual stories.

The Content Editor will lead editorial processes to support internal and external marketing and communications efforts ensuring alignment with strategic goals. Serve as the final checkpoint for accuracy, consistency and brand on content before it is published, upholding Nebraska Medicine’s brand as a trusted community resource. Collaborate across the department to spark creative visual and written content ideas, mentoring colleagues to translate those ideas into compelling multimedia executions that tell the Nebraska Medicine story. Identify appropriate audiences, tailor messaging, coordinate written content, graphics and photos for publications. Work closely with the Director, Marketing and Brand to define, implement and enact the Nebraska Medicine brand style guide.  

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 years experience writing and editing marketing or communications content required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing or related field required.
  • Proven experience in identifying and customizing content to a variety of audiences.
  • In-depth knowledge of organic search engine optimization required.
  • Familiarity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and readability standards required.
  • Experience defining and interpreting a brand’s documented voice, tone and style guidelines, including Associated Press (AP) style required.
  • Keen ability to learn and adapt to new software required.
  • Basic understanding of layout and design principles required, including how to identify well-done photography.
  • Experience coordinating both written and visual deadlines for print publications required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience writing and editing content for health care organizations strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with in Drupal content management system preferred.
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) systems such as Salesforce preferred.
