What’s the role?
We are looking for a Senior iOS Software Engineer II to join a multidisciplinary app development team, where you will work alongside native engineers to bring exciting features for our app users. You will have the opportunity to contribute directly to Etsy’s goals and growth alongside mobile engineers and partners.
This is a full-time position for the Performance Observability Release and Testing Initiative. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.
This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Mexico City office once or twice per week, depending on your proximity to the office. You will be part of an engineering team within our Product Enablement Group, responsible for creating features to improve the experience of millions of users as they shop for nearly one hundred million listings on the Etsy Marketplace. What does the day-to-day look like?
Build solutions that support our App Engineers ability to ship safely and efficiently to our nearly 100M buyers
Prototype, optimize, and deploy large-scale product improvements that deliver key results.
Gather quantitative and qualitative data on App engineers pain points and deliver solutions that improve their development experience at Etsy
Contribute to setting the technical direction for our iOS testing strategy across our family of apps.
Work with Product Engineering, Enablement Engineering, and Design Systems teams to shape what is possible on our platform to surprise, delight, and engage our users.
Assist with technical discovery and communicate findings and recommendations to your team members.
Work with iOS engineers on other teams to improve the Etsy app alongside iOS Platform Engineering improvements.
Participate in code reviews and project planning discussions.
Troubleshoot and monitor critical systems

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:
6 to 8 years of professional iOS development experience, ideally in a product-minded environment.
Proficiency in Swift, you understand Objective-C enough to be effective when needing to interact with it.
Product engineering mindset. The work you’ll do here will enable your stakeholders to understand the efficacy and effectiveness of their work that goes out millions of users.
Experience with iOS development and debugging practices and tools.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional team members, such as Product Managers, Designers, QA, and product engineers.
Proficiency with version control tools (our tooling and processes are based on git and GitHub).
A broad spectrum of experience across unit, integration, UI, and visual regression testing.
Ability to define and solve unconstrained problems, and know when to seek help when no progress is being made.
Desire to learn new systems and technologies.
Interest in monitoring the health and performance of the applications your team owns.
Have a “leave it better than you found it” mentality, and are willing to work and improve on code you did not originally write.
You can communicate with your team in a transparent and effective way.
Lead with questions, curiosity, and kindness while being an excellent communicator.
Are comfortable with saying “I don’t know”, doing research, and returning with options complete with trade offs.
Know your way around Xcode, LLDB, the Simulator, Instruments, and various Apple devices.
Feel excited to work with cloud platform technologies (e.g. Google Cloud Storage), CI/CD, and have the ability to take inputs and outputs from disparate systems and tie them together.
Have a strong foundation with the Apple platform development (e.g. iOS, macOS).
