SUMMARY

HUB International is rapidly expanding our digital product offerings and technology solutions and is seeking a motivated leader to head our DevOps team.  The Manager, DevOps will lead the teams responsible for building the delivery pipelines, automations, and deployment platforms for HUB’s expanding portfolio of Digital products.  Under your leadership, your team will enable and streamline continuous delivery, pipeline automation, seamless build and release management, and timely infrastructure deployment, and enable the availability and performance of mission-critical infrastructure and applications hosted within a cloud environment.

Our ideal candidate can demonstrate a track record of partnering with business and technology leaders to design, develop, and deploy highly available, scalable, and fault-tolerant platforms supporting digital products and solutions.  You will collaborate closely with Product Owners and Designers, Solutions Architects, Application Development Managers, Cloud Engineering and ITSM/Tooling Teams, Agile Scrum and Program Management Teams, Internal Business Partners, Security and Compliance Teams, and the broader IT organization to deliver and maintain digital insurance products that our customers love.

The successful candidate has a strong talent for designing and developing DevOps solutions encompassing people, process, and technology, designed with customer user experience, scale, performance, and operability in mind for HUB’s digital products.  This leader will oversee all aspects of DevOps, including requirements definition, design, deployment, integration, automation, and operations support for HUB’s suite of digital properties, leveraging each product's capabilities and best practices in support of HUB’s long-term digital strategy.  You will develop and promote the team’s capabilities and practices across HUB’s IT and Business teams, expanding their reach, impact, and capacity as needed to consistently execute their responsibilities and achieve their goals in a timely and quality manner.

This leader will oversee all DevOps Engineering, including CI/CD pipeline development, microservices frameworks, distributed computing, infrastructure as code, pipeline automations, and build and release management for HUB’s digital properties.  You will participate in the full software development lifecycle including designing distributed systems, developing the infrastructure and deployment platforms to enable streamlined application and infrastructure development and deployment, ensuring compliance with or updating as necessary HUB’s design, release, and security standards.

The Manager of DevOps will be a natural leader with a strong talent for developing high-performing teams and a proven ability to plan, design, deploy, and maintain deployment platforms, pipelines and automations for strategic digital platforms, ensuring consistent performance and timely support.  This leader consistently builds strong working relationships with business and technology partners, communicates effectively across all levels of the organization, welcomes challenges, and always drives for the best business outcome.  This leader thrives in a matrixed and virtual environment and excels at leading and supporting teammates, internal stakeholders, contractors, and managed service partners.

In This Role, You’ll Get To:

  • Lead and manage the DevOps team, focused on maintaining the availability and performance pipelines and automations for HUB’s mission-critical suite of applications that are hosted within a cloud environment, supporting HUB’s strategic goals and business priorities,
  • Oversee the design, development, integration, automation, availability, and performance of the company's CI/CD pipelines, deployment platforms, and build and release management frameworks, including policies, standards, guidelines, and tools.  Ensure the frameworks promote consistency, repeatability, supportability, and scale, and enable the automation, orchestration, and monitoring of the products, applications, and supporting infrastructure throughout their lifecycle,
  • Build collaborative relationships with business and marketing stakeholders, IT teammates, strategic partners, and third-party vendors to understand their needs and challenges, and devise solutions that advance their business and technical goals.  Collaborate with product owners, design teams, technical leads, and other stakeholders to identify business, technical, and operational requirements.  Review technical specifications from clients and vendors to confirm the adequacy, accuracy, and functionality of proposed solutions,
  • Provide a DevOps-enabled foundation that utilizes tools and processes to identify application issues rapidly and ensures ongoing production availability, which can be incorporated into development and operational practices by other teams in support of their goals.  Lead integration efforts to connect the DevOps platform(s) to various systems and services.  Identify potential technical issues and assist in engineering possible solutions,
  • Ensure that the DevOps platforms align with the company's strategic goals and customer needs.  Practice continuous improvement in standards, processes, designs, and tooling,
  • Partner with application, infrastructure, and tooling engineering teams to ensure that solutions are designed with customer user experience, scale/performance, and operability in mind,
  • Work closely with security and compliance teams to ensure that DevOps platforms adhere to corporate policies, address vulnerabilities, and align with industry standards,
  • Coordinate with the business and technology leaders, IT and security operations, and change management resources to ensure change impacts are effectively communicated, ensuring seamless deployments and smooth transitions into production,
  • Define performance benchmarks and develop and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for DevOps technical and operational performance that align with business and program objectives,
  • Monitor DevOps systems and application performance and system resource utilization to ensure the performance and reliability of mission-critical pipelines, automations, and deployment platforms.  Recommend strategies to address potential technical issues and to optimize availability and scalability,

  • Engage with management regularly with reports on project status, activities, and achievements.  Ensure timely decision-making, risk mitigation, and resolution of issues, connecting with business stakeholders and senior leaders as appropriate to ensure continued progress,
  • Direct and mentor a team of professionals, fostering an environment of growth and development.  Promote a culture of customer obsession, inclusion, agility, and learning within the team,
