Job description

The Sr. Project Manager is responsible for managing project scope, quality, schedule and resources for large scale, multi-faceted, high risk technical projects. The position will provide project management expertise including leadership and consistent use of standard tools and project management methodology.  The Sr Project Manager will be expected to work with all levels of the organization across diverse areas and multiple stakeholders to implement solutions, building strategic and tactical relationships inside and outside the organization to support Akumin’s growth.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • As a Technical Program Manager, you will apply technical and program management expertise to lead cross-functional teams (Operations, Finance & IT teams) and manage key work streams.

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with business and technical teams (both internal and external).  Work closely with various teams to identify and scope out new project requests.

  • Program Manager will lead both large, cross-division functional teams and projects as well as narrow, strategic projects within the Information Technology team. All will affect the organization’s long-term goals and objectives

  • The role requires routinely exercising independent judgment to determine best methods for accomplishing work and achieving objectives.

  • Drive multi-year multi-phase program roadmaps, budgets, resource allocation plans across multiple contributing teams.

  • Plan, manage, and coordinate multiple assigned projects simultaneously, ensuring that stated goals and objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time frames.  Recognize when to adapt and shift tactics as applicable to the needs and context of the project.

  • Utilize the work breakdown structure, user stories or appropriate methodology to drive the development and implementation of the integrated work plans.

  • Create and implement issues management, risk management, communication, change management, and relationship management.

  • Coordinate, plan and facilitate meetings with project teams and coordinate the interaction with other departments using proven tools and techniques. Make presentations to large audiences as required.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the project sponsor and the project team. Foster an environment that results in team cohesiveness and motivation.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

  • 5 to10 years in portfolio, program and project management.

  • Prior experience leading digital transformations such as Cloud, Dev/Ops, continuous development/deployment, agile methodologies, analytics, artificial intelligence, and RPA/automation.

  • Experience of working within a structured project/program delivery approach or of implementing a structured project/program delivery approach within a team or broader organization.

  • Proven ability to support a team in driving a project or program from initiation through to closure.

  • Proven success in effectively managing through influence and directly by prioritizing tasks for both self and team to meet business requirements and deadline.

  • Ability to solve complex problems for issue resolution; creatively and resourcefully resolve elevated issues while applying sound judgment and accountability.

  • Self-motivated; able to work both independently to complete tasks and respond to department requests, as well as collaborating with others to utilize resources and knowledge of others in identifying quality solutions.

  • Able to operate at an enterprise level, using creative and innovation solutions with a relentless focus on customer experience.

  • Ability to remain organized and manage multiple projects in a timely manner.

  • Possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication and presentation skills with the ability to form good working relationships at all levels both internally and externally.

  • 5-10% Travel may be required.

Preferred: 

  • Master's Degree.

  • PMP certification or equivalent experience

  • Agile Certification (e.g., CSM, PSM, SAFe)

Physical Requirements:

Standard office environment.

  • Sit, stand, walk.

  • Repetitive movement of hands, arms and legs.

  • See, speak and hear to be able to communicate with patients.

Less than 50% of the time:

  • Stoop, kneel or crawl.
