Dillon’s Communities and Environment Infrastructure technical group is looking for a Senior Water Wastewater Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects across the country while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior client experience. This opportunity is for a motivated individual with demonstrated leadership abilities, to help shape the future of our growing team.

Responsibilities:

What your day will look like

Project Management & Design

  • Preliminary design, detailed design and expertise in the assessment of treatment processes for water and wastewater treatment systems, water supply and wastewater collection infrastructure.
  • Provide senior technical advice, oversight, and review to water and wastewater design teams.
  • Support project managers with the coordination of design team activities, direction to project team members including engineers and technical support staff, and ongoing support to client relationship managers.
  • Project management initially of small sized infrastructure projects, leading to larger assignments following demonstrated proficiency.
  • Liaise with public and private sector clients, government review and approval agencies, sub-consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Liaise with multidisciplinary project teams (including transportation, municipal and structural engineers, transportation systems planners, planners, environmental scientists, and technical support staff).

Business Development

  • Prepare project proposals and contribution to client relationships and business development activities.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities with private sector clients.
  • Leadership in the maintenance of existing client relationships and development of new client relationships including preparation of project proposals.
  • Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request.

Learning & Development

  • Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring.

Qualifications:

What you will need to succeed

  • A degree in environmental, civil, mechanical or chemical engineering.
  • Licensed to practice as a professional engineer in Manitoba, or eligible to be licensed within six months.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience in the market.
  • An intense motivation for personal and professional growth.

  • A deep desire to help and guide our clients on their path to success.
  • Valid G Driver’s license.
Experience:
  • Experienced in the assessment and design of treatment processes for small and large-scale water and/or wastewater facilities.
  • Proficient in the full range of design activities including preparation of preliminary and detailed design drawings and reports, contract document preparation and tendering.
  • Experience with industrial site water and wastewater management is an asset including characterization (water balance, flow and quality), water conservation, water reuse, wastewater segregation, and pollution prevention planning.
  • Exposure to project management skills, either through on the job experience or formal training.
  • Proven abilities in multidisciplinary teamwork, client and industry relationships, and regulatory agency consultation.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant Canadian federal and provincial regulations.
  • Familiarity with contract administration services and requirements.
  • Working knowledge of emerging technologies for water and wastewater treatment.
  • Demonstrated abilities in multidisciplinary project teamwork and coordination.
  • Proficient in project proposal preparation and presentations.
