Your Mission
We are looking for an exceptional lawyer to join our Legal team as we work to provide practical and focused legal advice on a range of cutting-edge projects across our business.
The role offers exposure to a broad range of commercial work, involving everything from negotiating supplier and customer contracts to advising on Improbable’s intellectual property portfolio and related product, privacy, marketing, employment, corporate and company secretarial matters. You will also gain hands-on experience in venture capital and web3 matters.
This is an ideal opportunity for a junior commercial lawyer looking to branch out in-house into a more business-focused role in the emerging technologies sector.
Your Opportunity:
You’ll negotiate and draft commercial contracts with the company’s customers, suppliers, and other partners across a variety of sectors, ranging from household brands to web3 innovators.
You’ll help manage the company’s compliance with its data security and privacy obligations, coordinate responses to data subject access requests and provide advice in relation to GDPR and other relevant regulations.
You’ll help manage the company’s IP portfolio and work with external counsel in relation to securing patent and trademark filings.
You’ll offer practical and business-focused advice to our ventures on matters relating to B2C events, licensing, marketing and regulatory issues.
You’ll provide support to more senior members of the team in relation to corporate, finance and litigation matters.
You’ll provide legal advice on the development, adoption and implementation of web3 and blockchain technologies by our venture partners.
You’ll participate in the creation and development of corporate policies and guidance and help implement appropriate processes across the business for getting legal review and sign-off.
You’ll assist in the administration of the company’s equity scheme and manage company secretarial matters across the company’s venture portfolio.
You’ll work with our People and Talent teams to review employment contract documentation and manage any HR, tax and compliance issues.
Why you're made for this:
UK qualified lawyer (or equivalent) with a strong academic background.
2-4 years PQE gained either in-house or in private practice.
Good knowledge of commercial law, with some experience of privacy, corporate, employment and/or intellectual property law a plus.
A passion for emerging digital technologies.
Excellent analytical skills and business judgment combined with high quality written and verbal communication skills.
A collaborative spirit with a growth mindset and strong attention to detail.
Resilient, flexible, and comfortable navigating complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
This role is available as hybrid working. We have a great office space in Spitalfields in London but are equally happy if you'd prefer to work from home 1-2 times a week. We are 'Flexa' certified, meaning our entire employee experience is anchored around flexibility and autonomy.
While we think the above experience could be important, we’re keen to hear from people that believe they have valuable experience to bring to the role. If you identify with the team and mission, but not all of our requirements, then please still apply.
