The Opportunity:
Caraway is seeking a meticulous and proactive Associate Accountant, Accounts Payable to join our growing finance and accounting team. Reporting to the Senior Director, Accounting, this role entails more than just invoice processing — it offers full insight into the accounts payable function. You will oversee expense coding, manage vendor relationships, and provide essential support for month-end close and financial operations. This is a dynamic opportunity to enhance processes, utilize advanced financial tools, and broaden your expertise within a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Who You Are:
The ideal candidate is a self-motivated and passionate person who is accountable and detail oriented. This individual is passionate about building relationships and will work closely with both internal teams and external vendors. Prior experience with consumer packaged goods, e-commerce, or inventory is a plus, while the most important characteristic is a desire to learn and grow with the team. Especially important, as we’re a fully remote company, is the ability to comfortably communicate and ask questions as needed. You are a proactive self-starter and looking to take every project and process as an opportunity to learn. The ideal candidate has prior AP experience, preferably with nuanced or complex vendors + transactions, as well as inventory billing. The ideal candidate will be tech savvy and a problem-solver with determination to understand the technical nuances of our ERP system and how all transactions happen. Responsibilities:
Invoice Processing:
- Record vendor bills within Bill.com and ensure proper syncing to the ERP system.
- Obtain departmental approval for all vendor invoices.
- Ensure vendor terms are accurately reflected on invoices and recorded in Bill.com.
- Help compile weekly check runs.
Vendor Management:
- Efficiently onboard new vendors and partners, ensuring proper completion of W-9 forms and accurate system setup.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with all vendors and partners.
- Process 1099 forms for vendors annually.
Monthly Reconciliations:
- Ensure accurate coding of credit card expense transactions within Ramp credit card management software, reconciling credit card balances within the ERP system.
- Reconcile accounts payable in Bill.com with the AP aging in the ERP system.
- Assist with ad-hoc financial close processes as needed.
Day to Day Accounting:
- Maintain robust internal control policies and procedures, escalating issues to leadership when necessary.
- Provide clear, efficient, and timely communication with all stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Perform other related duties as assigned within a high-growth environment.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- 2+ years experience in accounts payable
- Proficiency in financial software including ERP systems and Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Fulfil, bill.com, Ramp preferred
- Highly detail oriented, consistently auditing and double checking work
- Desire and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Proactive self-starter
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within, and across, departments
- Proactive problem-solver
The anticipated base salary range for this role is $60,000 - $70,000 - Final compensation will depend on a variety of factors determining the base pay at offer, including but not limited to: skills, qualifications, experience. This range provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.
