Job description

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Legal Virtual Assistant to provide dedicated support to a tax attorney. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal administrative tasks, an understanding of tax law basics, and excellent organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administrative Support: Manage the attorney’s schedule, organize meetings, and set up virtual appointments.
  • Document Preparation: Draft, edit, and format legal documents, letters, and tax-related filings.
  • Research: Conduct basic legal and tax-related research and compile relevant case summaries and legislative updates.
  • Client Communication: Serve as the first point of contact for client inquiries, maintain communication records, and ensure timely follow-ups.
  • File Management: Maintain digital files, organize case-related documents, and assist in ensuring compliance with document retention policies.
  • Billing Assistance: Help prepare invoices, track billable hours, and manage billing records.
  • Data Entry: Input and update client information and case details into legal software and case management systems.
  • Confidentiality: Uphold the highest standard of confidentiality with sensitive client information.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a legal assistant, paralegal, or in a similar role within a legal practice, preferably in tax law.
  • Familiarity with legal terminology, particularly relating to tax law.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, legal research tools, and case management software.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of legal ethics and client confidentiality requirements.
  • Optional Certification or training as a paralegal/legal assistant.
Preferred Skills:
  • Familiarity with tax filing processes and IRS procedures.
  • Experience with virtual tools such as Zoom, Slack, and project management software like Asana or Trello.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish in all communication modalities
