Are you passionate about protecting sensitive information and ensuring the integrity of vital systems? Join us as an Information Security Officer (ISO) at the Nevada Supreme Court!

As the guardian of our court's digital fortress, you'll play a pivotal role in developing and implementing a robust information security strategy. Your expertise will shape policies, procedures, and protocols, ensuring they are not only up-to-date but also effectively safeguard our invaluable court information. This role involves continuous risk assessment, incident response, and the development of security awareness programs.

This position can be located in Carson City or Las Vegas.  

After an initial training period, there may be an opportunity for a hybrid remote/in-office schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Policy Development and Implementation:
    • Develop, implement, and enforce information security policies, standards, and guidelines.
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding information security.
  • Risk Management:
    • Conduct regular security risk assessments and audits.
    • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks to the court’s information systems and data.
    • Develop and maintain a risk management plan.
  • Incident Response:
    • Lead the response to information security incidents, including data breaches.
    • Conduct post-incident analysis and develop strategies to prevent recurrence.
  • Security Awareness and Training:
    • Develop and deliver security awareness training programs for court staff and justices.
    • Promote a culture of security awareness within the organization.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
    • Ensure the court's information security practices comply with relevant laws and regulations.
    • Prepare and present regular reports on the status of information security to senior management.
  • Technology and Infrastructure:
    • Oversee the implementation and management of security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption solutions.
    • Collaborate with IT staff to ensure secure system configurations and network architectures.
  • Vendor Management:
    • Assess and manage the security risks associated with third-party vendors.
    • Ensure that vendors comply with the court’s security policies and contractual requirements.
    • This position may also require collaborating with other government branches or agencies.

Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates with:
  • Significant experience in information security. 
  • Leadership experience. 
  • Strong understanding of information security frameworks, standards, and best practices (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various departments and stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and work extended hours when necessary. 

Ideal candidates will have: 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, IT, Cybersecurity or a related field. 
  • Prior experience in a legal or government environment. 
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CISM (Certified Information Security Manager), or equivalent. 

Effectively works remotely and collaborates with employees from a remote location, as needed. Must have expertise in virtual meeting platforms, such as Teams. Must have the ability to work remotely via an internet network connection provided by the employee. This connection speed must be sufficient to perform all duties. A minimum of 50-100 mb download speeds are required. Higher connection speed may be required if sharing this connection with other members in an employee’s household.
