An opportunity has arisen to join the Surrey DESP. We are looking for someone to join the screening team covering clinics throughout the area.
NEC Care, part of the NEC Health division, delivers the national diabetic eye screening programme. Our mission, vision and values are to provide people-centric services that aim to improve the health and wellbeing of those we serve by working to achieve excellence in service delivery.
The Surrey DESP (Diabetic Eye Screening Programme) provides retinal screening clinics and image grading to over 60,000 people with diabetes across the county of Surrey. We are commissioned by Public Health England to provide retinal screening on behalf of the NHS and our service is compliant with the National Service Framework (NSF) and National Screening Committee (NSC) guidance, standards, and objectives.
Our screeners are the heart of NEC Care spending time on the ground, helping our patients. As a screener, once you have been trained up and met all our competencies, you will run local clinics on your own, for our patients and photograph their eyes to assess for diabetic retinopathy. We'll need you to be empathetic and able to talk to patients. You'll be supported whilst undertaking your training, but once completed will be working largely unsupervised in a pressured environment, so a cool head is essential!
Your local base will be either:
1) Redhill, from where you will be expected to undertake clinics mainly in Redhill, Horley, Oxted, Dorking, Molesey, Leatherhead and Epsom, but you will also be required to cover occasional clinics further afield in Surrey, including (but not limited to): Cranleigh, Woking, Guildford, Farnham, Ashford and Haslemere.
or
2) Farnham, from where you will be expected to undertake clinics mainly in Cranleigh, Woking, Guildford, Farnham, Ashford and Haslemere, but you will also be required to cover occasional clinics further afield in Surrey, including (but not limited to): Redhill, Horley, Oxted, Dorking, Molesey, Leatherhead and Epsom.
