Director of Technology
Location: US Residents - Remote
Salary Range: $140,000 - $175,000/year

We are looking for a seasoned Director of Technology to lead our tech strategy and drive innovation efforts across our operations. This fully remote position requires some occasional travel for team meetings, leadership gatherings, and cleanroom facility audits.
The Director of Technology is responsible for setting the strategic direction for technology within our organization while overseeing the daily functions of IT, Security, and Development. This role requires leadership in managing technology operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and implementing innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency and security. This role will work with cross-functional teams to meet company objectives and ensure that technology initiatives are aligned with broader business goals.

Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Strategy
- Supervise the IT, Security, and Development teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
- Plan and execute the organization's technology strategy and leadership initiatives, utilizing tools such as Jira and Agile sprints.
- Research and generate budget proposals for IT, security, and development projects, focusing on cost-effective and scalable solutions.
- Security & Compliance
- Lead security audits and compliance efforts to maintain SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certifications.
- Develop, discuss, and periodically update security and compliance policies to align with evolving regulatory standards.
- Advise on the security and technology considerations of new contracts and amendments, ensuring the protection of company data.
- Conduct risk assessments covering vendors, facilities, and company projects, identifying and mitigating potential vulnerabilities.
- Direct and manage security training, awareness programs, and phishing campaigns to ensure company-wide vigilance.
- IT Operations & Infrastructure
- Oversee facility IT and security operations, including network setups, VLANs, and hardware configurations.
- Manage help desk services and resources, ensuring timely issue resolution and maintaining the knowledge base wiki.
- Administer and manage system configuration, endpoint security (using tools like JumpCloud and ESET), and user policies in Google Workspace and similar platforms.
- Direct IT asset management processes, including equipment tracking via Jira's AssetIT tool.
- Cloud & Development Management
- Provision, maintain, and secure cloud infrastructure on AWS, implementing scalable and efficient cloud solutions.
- Supervise software development projects, particularly for transcription, rating, watchlists, and recruiting, ensuring that project goals align with business needs.
- Coordinate SIEM operations and vulnerability management to proactively protect the organization from emerging threats.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field required.
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in IT, with at least 2-5 years of leadership experience.
- Technical Expertise
- Strong understanding of compliance standards such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
- Comprehensive cybersecurity knowledge, including experience with SIEMs, endpoint protection, phishing, vulnerability management, penetration testing, and risk assessments.
- Advanced understanding of networking principles, best practices, and cloud computing services, particularly AWS.
- Proficiency in Agile project management and tools like Jira.
- Leadership & Certifications
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to work closely with business customers, stakeholders, and executive teams.
- At least one relevant certification in security, IT, or cloud computing, such as CISSP, Security+, Network+, Cisco CCNA, AWS Solutions Architect, etc.
Physical Requirements:
- This is a remote position, however, it may require in-office attendance for designated meetings, training sessions, and occasional travel to other worksites as needed.
- The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, filing cabinets, etc.
- Strong visual acuity for reviewing detailed documents and data on computer screens.
- Manual dexterity for operating a computer, including the use of a keyboard and mouse.
- Occasionally required to lift and carry office supplies or equipment up to 25 pounds.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with team members across the organization
- Flexibility to adjust schedules based on project needs, with occasional requests for additional hours during temporary projects.
- Capability to manage tasks that require prolonged periods of focus and concentration.
- Ability to handle the physical demands of a standard workweek, which may include occasional overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays, if needed.
