Job description

 

Cancer Specialists of North Florida is recruiting for an experienced Authorization Specialist for our busy Radiation Department. This is not a remote position. The Authorization Specialist is responsible for obtaining and recording all drug and/or radiation authorizations needed. This position completes the financial approvals in EMR. In addition to these tasks, this position also obtains office visit referrals, monitors and completes general reports as needed and communicates with different locations about radiation authorization requests. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: 

  • Prepare schedule and run daily for radiation add ons, to identify services needing authorization
  • Pulls location reports “Business Office” to identify services needing authorization
  • Verify medical guidelines
  • Check to make sure diagnosis is compatible if not email physician
  • Requests necessary information from site. Follows up to assure receipt of information
  • Obtains and enters all radiation authorizations in computer systems (PM and EMR)
  • Notates approvals for patient accounts with any pertinent information relating to authorizations in Mosaiq 
  • Completes the financial approvals “Assessment Tab” in EMR
  • Loads all codes and approval numbers in Registration Overlay
  • Scan and upload all radiation authorization documentation from carriers into G4 Registration Overlay
  • Implement follow-up process for all upcoming expiring authorizations
  • Answer calls from Physics and Dosimetry
  • Answers and resolves incoming calls from locations regarding STAT requests 
  • Demonstrates the ability to deal with insurance companies in a professional manner regarding sensitive authorization matters
  • All other duties as assigned

Education and Experience: 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum of two years of Radiation authorization and insurance verification experience, preferably in a medical and/or oncology setting
