The Program Management (PgM) leader is responsible for the comprehensive delivery of a portfolio of projects, programs, and financial institution consulting engagements with an elevated level of quality and minimal risk. This leader will use their experience in card processing, executive presence, management consulting as well as deep program management capabilities to serve as the senior point person for a portfolio of programs delivered by their team. The Manager of Program Management plays a critical role in driving Valera’s strategic client’s success by overseeing the planning, execution and delivery of strategic initiatives and client engagements. This role will establish, maintain, track, and report key performance indicators, produce efficient processes for Program Management delivery, and define and maintain adoption of best practices across the team, while functioning in alignment and in compliance with PMO standards. In addition to the ongoing health and scalability of PgM services, the ideal candidate will foster strong partnerships with operational and service functions to ensure client program’s goals are effectively aligned within the Enterprise and PMO. This role will require excellent communication and collaboration skills to integrate client requirements with Velera objectives, promoting a seamless and productive workflow across all departments and help resolve escalated cross-functional issues that impact project timelines.
Role Responsibilities
Strategic Planning:
- Oversee Program Management portfolio of projects and programs.
- Develop and implement strategic plans that align with organizational objectives and priorities.
- Identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and optimization through strategic initiatives and client project engagements.
- Translate strategic goals into actionable project and program objectives.
Program Management:
- Establish and maintain a program management framework which drives a consistent and first-class leading level of program delivery for strategic Velera financial institutions.
- Lead a team of Program Managers for the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple programs and projects aligning Velera's team to meet financial institution’s strategic goals and objectives.
- Oversee comprehensive program plans, including scope, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Monitor project and program progress, ensuring adherence to schedule, scope, and quality standards.
- Identify and mitigate risks, issues, and dependencies within portfolio of programs.
- Maintain working knowledge of the Program Management and reporting PMO tools
- Maintain thorough knowledge of both industry standard best practices and PMO processes as it pertains to program/project management and supported areas of operations.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including executives, department heads, and project implementation teams.
Professional Services Management:
- Lead professional services team charged with defining client engagement scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Ensure contractual obligations are met and professional service-based fees are realized.
- Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to team’s job accomplishments.
- Allocate resources effectively to support program priorities and optimize utilization of talent and budget.
- Identify resource gaps and proactively address staffing needs and capacity.
Quality Assurance:
- Establish and enforce quality standards and best practices for program management, professional services, and delivery.
- Conduct regular reviews and audits to assess project and program quality and compliance with standards and requirements.
- Implements production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards by resolving problems, completing audits, identifying trends, determining system improvements, and implementing change.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
- Provide direction and leadership to staff; guide, coach, mentor and develop staff ensuring compliance with processes and procedures.
- Handle interviewing, hiring, promotions, transfers, performance appraisals, compensation, counseling, and termination of staff.
- Develop and maintain staff by applying the necessary training and leadership that will allow internal growth and advancement.
- Direct staff to ensure all duties are performed according to department performance standards
- Handle escalations when needed, and resolving issues in a manner that balances operating standards with long-term value creation and client relationships.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment, promoting teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- After-hours on-call support, as needed.
Role Requirements
Education
Bachelors degree in a related field and/or equivalent combination experience and education is required.
Experience
- Seven (7) years of credit/debit card and/or financial industry-related experience.
- Five (5) years of client project, program management and/or conversion-related experience required.
- Five (5) years of management experience preferred.
- PMP / PgMP Certification Preferred.
