Job description

As an Senior Audit Associate, Government Contract within our Assurance team, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the audit engagements related to government contracts and providing assurance services to our clients.

This role needs an understanding of government regulations, actively participating in audit engagements, assessing internal controls, and providing valuable insights to improve financial processes. The Senior Associate collaborates with cross-functional teams, manages client relationships, and contributes to the overall success of the Assurance Services, Government Contracts department.

This is a remote position that can work from anywhere within the United States.

What you’ll do at SN:

  • Support the Manager on the engagement by executing audit engagements according to established audit plans, procedures, and timelines.
  • Support the Manager on the engagement by assisting with the planning and risk assessment process to gain a comprehensive understanding of the clients’ business operations, and tailor the audit approach accordingly.
  • Oversee the performance of substantive testing of financial transactions, internal controls, and account balances to identify anomalies or discrepancies in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation.
  • Review financial statements, disclosures, and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance with the relevant accounting and professional standards.
  • Review the work of assurance govcon staff to ensure that it meets professional standards and guidelines, provide constructive feedback, and uphold the integrity and accuracy of your engagements.
  • Provide guidance and expertise to ensure that engagement risks are identified, and appropriate responses (including specific audit steps) are taken.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to gather necessary information, conduct inquiries, keep them informed on the status of the engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Manager and/or Director on the engagement to provide recommendations for improving the financial reporting and operating processes.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with client personnel, demonstrating exceptional client service.

What you may have done before:

  • Worked at a public accounting firm doing FAR audits 
  • Worked at an Engineering or Architecture firm within the Finance/Accounting Department

What it takes to be an Audit Senior Associate:

  • 3+ years’ experience in public accounting
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • CPA or EA is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 31 (Contract Cost Principles and Procedures) and the AASHTO Audit Guide
  • Excellent project management, analytical, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to lead and develop staff
  • External audit experience

Salary: The salary range for this position is an estimate of $75,000 - $90,000. A final compensation offer within this range will be based on factors including an individual’s skill sets, experience, knowledge, licensure and certifications, and geography.
