Job description

Get to know Okta

Okta is The World’s Identity Company. We free everyone to safely use any technology—anywhere, on any device or app. Our Workforce and Customer Identity Clouds enable secure yet flexible access, authentication, and automation that transforms how people move through the digital world, putting Identity at the heart of business security and growth.

At Okta, we celebrate a variety of perspectives and experiences. We are not looking for someone who checks every single box - we’re looking for lifelong learners and people who can make us better with their unique experiences.

Join our team! We’re building a world where Identity belongs to you.

We are recruiting a Staff Identity Engineer to join the Security IAM team at Okta. The Security IAM team owns, configures, and manages our internal workforce and customer instances of the Okta platform to make them the reference implementations of the Okta identity platform. In this role you will be on the forefront of delivering Identity as a Service (IDaaS) solutions which not only secure our environment but also showcase the power of our platform. As a Staff Identity Engineer you will bring your expertise in developing and implementing identity solutions that solve complex business challenges.

What this job involves:

  • Taking a leading engineering role in implementing Okta to solve secure identity problems in our own environment. We strive to be our own best customer, implementing best-in-class secure identity solutions.
  • Conceptualizing, designing, implementing and documenting identity governance and privileged access management solutions.
  • Configuration and management of our Okta instance to support our existing and developing business needs including: policy management; app integration; and feature implementation.
  • Supporting the development of more junior members of the team: providing technical mentorship, pair-working, reviewing work, sharing feedback and modeling best practices.
  • Partnering with the Okta GRC team to implement and maintain security controls that keep our identity eco-system secure and compliant (SOX).
  • Troubleshooting and solutioning when things go wrong with our existing access management infrastructure.
  • Providing productive and collaborative feedback to the product team to help them improve what we are implementing for us and for our customers.

You are a good fit for this role if you:

  • Care about identity and access management and have proven familiarity with related disciplines and concepts such as: ILM; IGA: RBAC; PAM; SSO; MFA.
  • Have experience using Okta to manage identity security inside an organization.
  • Want to develop solutions that make sense; are modular and reusable; reduce effort and complexity; and follow agreed standards and patterns.
  • Enjoy working within a team structure where you are supported to do your best work and encouraged to express your hard-earned industry knowledge.
  • Have the personality to interface with our internal customers and take them along on our journey of identity security and enablement.
  • Have experience with RESTful APIs, scripting, SQL and all those other necessary integration nuances.
  • Look forward to supporting your team mates and take pride in their accomplishments.
