Job description

Equal Education Partners, in collaboration with Romodels, is seeking a talented and innovative Curriculum Development Specialist to join the team on a freelance basis.

Romodels is an education charity that works with schools across Wales to provide a three-stage learning programme to support primary learners to ‘Discover, Experience, and Believe’ in a diverse range of career opportunities—regardless of their own lived experiences. The programme is delivered through our original, online, bilingual Romodels Learning Portal, which feature real-life volunteer role models (‘Romodels’) in a range of inspiring careers.

Focusing on Expressive Arts, Language, Literacy, and Communication, and/or Health and Wellbeing, this role is designed for educators who are passionate about developing creative curricula that highlight diverse and often hidden career paths and inspire the next generation of change makers and trailblazers. You will play a vital role in shaping and delivering content that empowers young learners to explore a range of career possibilities.

As a Curriculum Development Specialist, you will collaborate with the Romodels team to design and implement high-quality curricula that meet the diverse needs of students. Your expertise will ensure that our educational programs are up-to-date, effective, and aligned with the Curriculum for Wales.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Researching best practices in curriculum design and instruction within Expressive Arts, Language, Literacy, and Communication, and/or Health and Wellbeing.
  • Developing comprehensive and innovative real-life curriculum materials: student missions, teacher guides, reflection guides, job descriptions and assessment tools.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to evaluate curriculum effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.
  • Utilizing technology and different teaching methodologies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.

If you possess the vision and expertise to give the smallest amongst us the biggest career dreams and the knowledge, tools and beliefs to reach them, we encourage you to apply.

Requirements

    • Passion for Educational Equity: A commitment to addressing educational inequity in Wales by developing high-quality, inclusive content that supports all learners, regardless of their background or ability.
    • Curriculum expertise: Deep understanding of the Welsh curriculum across the three Areas of Learning and Experience (Expressive Arts, Language, Literacy, and Communication, and Health and Wellbeing) and expertise in developing content for progression steps 1-3.
    • Content Development Expertise: Proven ability to design and create engaging and inclusive student content and comprehensive teacher guides that align with curriculum standards and learning objectives.
    • Visualisation Skills: Proficient in using PowerPoint and other visual tools to develop dynamic and visually appealing educational materials that enhance student learning and teacher delivery.
    • Digital Platform Competency: Experience with or willingness to learn how to upload, manage, and maintain educational content on online learning platforms to ensure accessibility and ease of use.
    • Collaboration and Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for working collaboratively with schools, Romodels (role models) and other stakeholders to continuously refine and improve curriculum content.

Benefits

The successful candidate will be engaged on a self-employed freelance basis at a minimum of £180 per day.

How it works:

  • Competitive rates of pay.
  • On average 3 days of work per 2-week period (dependent on demand).
  • Can fit in with your other commitments (you decide when you complete the work within the given timeframes).
  • Opportunity to work with and contribute to a creative ed tech start-up charity, making a real-life difference to primary learners.
  • Work closely with the CEO.
