Job description

The Company

Our client provides a diverse range of logistic solutions for the Pharma, Food and Energy industries and we pride ourselves on our ability to offer flexible logistic solutions suitable to our customers needs from Temperature -Controlled Distribution to Bulk Tankers and Curtain sided trailers across Ireland, U.K and Europe.

We are now seeking an International Weekend Transport Planner to join our 120 strong team. This is a hybrid role, with Saturday and Sunday based from home.

The Job

The key accountabilities of this role are international transportation planning, operations management, communication, transport modelling, and transportation management.

Your main tasks will be to:

  • Oversee the route planning - add new delivery and collection points, as well as reviewing the routes for driver hours, efficiency, and the appropriateness of the vehicle used.
  • Manage all transport personnel to include onboarding of drivers, and ensuring they are fully trained and set up to meet required standard for the load.
  • Plan resources in terms of trucks and personnel to meet demand.
  • Evaluate routes and truck efficiency, whilst remaining hands on and able to oversee relevant compliance in keeping with legislation.
  • Manage shipping bookings as well as the correct legislative documents.

The Person

We want to hear from you if you have the following skills, experience and knowledge:

  • 3+ years experience in a similar role Transportation Planning and Transportation Management for Ireland, UK and Europe
  • Proficient in the use of transport & load management systems, (preferably Transics and Move-it) and in Microsoft Windows.
  • Highly organised, adaptable, flexible, self-confidence & personal integrity
  • Ability to work calm and stay focused even under pressure.
  • Professional telephone manner and able to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Thorough and accurate, demonstrating attention to detail.
  • Sound judgement, problem solving & decision-making competencies, able to act on own Initiative as appropriate.

Additional Information

Working Hours:

  • Friday: 2pm to 7pm on site
  • Saturday, Sunday: 8am to 6pm remote
  • Monday: 8am to 2pm on site.
  • Phone cover Saturday & Sunday night
