Job Summary 

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Oracle database management in both on-premises and cloud environments, along with strong MySQL DBA experience (on-premises only). This role involves responsibilities as both a Physical and Application DBA, with an emphasis on database design, clustering, and application scripting. Candidates with Oracle and MySQL certifications are highly preferred. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Manage and maintain Oracle databases in on-premises and cloud settings. 

  • Handle MySQL databases in on-premises environments. 

  • Perform database installations, upgrades, and patching for Oracle and MySQL. 

  • Design and implement database solutions, including clustering for high availability and disaster recovery. 

  • Monitor database performance and perform tuning for optimal performance. 

  • Support database backups, recovery, and migration processes. 

  • Develop and maintain scripts for database automation, maintenance, and monitoring. 

  • Collaborate with development teams to assist with database design, schema changes, and query optimization. 

  • Ensure data security, database integrity, and compliance with regulatory requirements. 

  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner. 

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and best practices. 

  • Provide 24/7 on-call support for database-related incidents as needed. 

Required Qualifications 

  • Proven experience as an Oracle DBA in both on-premises and cloud environments. 

  • Proven experience as a MySQL DBA in on-premises environments. 

  • Oracle and MySQL certifications are nice to have. 

  • Strong understanding of database architecture, clustering, and high-availability solutions. 

  • Proficiency in database design, implementation, and maintenance. 

  • Experience with database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning. 

  • Hands-on experience with database performance tuning and optimization. 

  • Knowledge of database security and data protection best practices. 

  • Proficiency in scripting languages for database automation (e.g., Shell, Python or others). 

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex database issues. 

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. 

Preferred Skills 

  • Experience with additional RDBMS technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server) - added advantage.

  • Familiarity with database monitoring tools and solutions. 

  • Experience in cloud platforms such as Azure, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) for Oracle databases. 

Certifications 

  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Oracle Database Administrator Certified Associate (OCA) - added advantage.

  • MySQL Database Administrator Certification - added advantage.
