Job Title:             Senior Commissioning Engineer Electrical

The role
As a Senior Commissioning Engineer Electrical, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Leading, managing and developing an existing team of Electrical Engineers, providing your technical knowledge and expertise to support the ongoing maintenance periods for the platforms. This will include liaising with both internal and external stakeholders and potential travel to other sites. 

 

Day-to-day, you’ll be managing a small team of Electrical Commissioning Engineers.

 

  • Leading and managing a small team to ensure systems are installed and commissioned to conform with the correct engineering standards. 
  • Prepare test documentation and deliver technical direction of activities on submarine systems and equipment to meet the commissioning plan. 
  • Liaising with Production, Project, Commissioning Group, Ship staff and MoD teams to ensure commissioning activities do not conflict with other activities. 
  • Attending various meetings to offer commissioning input to the project, providing continuous updates project wide. 
  • Acting as Test Director during commissioning activities which would also include the management of Commissioning Engineers, Industrial staff and external contractors. 

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

 

Essential experience of the Senior Commissioning Engineer Electrical:

  • Previous experience of maintenance / commissioning activities including fault finding/diagnostics within an electrical discipline. 
  • Competent at operating computer systems and databases, analysing technical drawings and test procedures 
  • Detailed knowledge of control of work and safe isolation of electrical systems
  • Previous management and mentoring experience
  • Must be able to access and egress to submarine confined spaces and restrictive areas.

 

Qualifications for the Senior Commissioning Engineer Electrical:

  • Electrical Apprenticeship level 3 or equivalent. 
  • HNC/HND or demonstratable equivalent experience.
