Reporting to the Senior Manager, Marketing and Proposals—Buildings East, the Technical Writer will support the Buildings Division’s proposal team by working with subject matter experts to gain a deep understanding of approaches, products, and services to write simplified, engaging content. The ideal candidate will have experience working within the construction industry and/or knowledge of construction activities, terminologies, and delivery models.
We are open to those able to work out of our Missisauga, Winnipeg, Bedford or Quispamsis offices.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Research and write informative and engaging content on various construction-related topics, such as project management, safety, materials, equipment, and regulations
- Produce high-quality, simplified written content that meets the needs of the target audience, including proposals, print and digital brochures, and case studies
- Edit and proofread content for accuracy, grammar, and style.
- Provide writing guidance and constructive feedback
- Work with proposal lead to draft tailored content
- Manage technical content
- Develop and maintain a content repository
Qualifications
- Postsecondary degree or diploma in journalism, marketing, communications, or construction (or equivalent)
- 3+ years of experience in writing for the construction industry
- Proven ability to write clear, concise, and engaging content.
- Excellent research skills and ability to synthesize complex information.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to proofread and edit own work.
- Experience using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop is an asset
