Position Overview:

Atwell is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Power and Energy to lead our Solar PV division. This is a senior leadership role within our Power Generation team, responsible for advancing our portfolio of utility-scale solar projects, while also supporting our efforts in Wind and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). As the Director, you will manage a dynamic team of Associate Directors, Project Managers, and technical design staff, providing both technical guidance and client-facing expertise. This role will be instrumental in staff development, recruitment, and yearly business planning, driving sustainable growth and helping to meet company revenue goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the Solar PV division, managing utility-scale projects across the U.S. and supporting cross-functional efforts in Wind and BESS
  • Provide strategic technical leadership and direction for engineering and design efforts within the Power and Energy team
  • Manage and mentor a team of Associate Directors, Project Managers, and technical staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment
  • Act as a senior client liaison, developing strong, lasting client relationships and addressing client needs throughout project lifecycles
  • Develop, retain, and recruit top talent in engineering and project management, building a robust team for long-term success
  • Drive annual business planning, collaborating closely with the VP of Power and Energy to set revenue targets and achieve consistent, year-over-year growth
  • Oversee project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation to ensure efficiency and successful project outcomes

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; a PE license is highly preferred
  • Minimum of twelve (12) years of professional experience in Power and Energy, with a strong focus on utility-scale Solar PV projects
  • Proven track record in client-facing roles, with exceptional project management and communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and developing large teams, with a passion for talent development and mentorship
  • Strong strategic planning and business development skills, with experience in annual business planning and revenue growth
  • Proficiency in Solar PV modeling software and other relevant technical tools
  • Ability to thrive in a remote work environment and travel as needed
