Summary of Job Duties:
The Extra Help/Trojan Works Student Workers serve in various roles across campus as Institutional Work-Study (IWS) student workers. Specific duties are designated by the department hiring manager to include but are not limited to customer service, answering phones, and clerical work. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy. This position is a provisional appointment with UA Little Rock and is funded through a grant or contract. Annual position renewal is contingent upon continued grant funding and satisfactory job performance.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience

  • Degree-seeking UA Little Rock students enrolled in classes at the time of application;
  • Eligible to legally work 20 hours per week in the United States;
  • Must be ineligible for Federal Work-Study (FWS);
  • Experience or majoring in mass communication, applied communication, rhetoric and writing, advertising, marketing, or a related field;

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Write news stories about campus events, student, faculty, and staff achievements, and campus announcements;
  • Create digital newsletters for the UA Little Rock community and stakeholders;
  • Copy edit communications for accuracy, clarity, and consistency;
  • Collaborate with professional staff and other student employees to develop a variety of content marketing materials;
  • Staff the Communications and Marketing front desk;
  • Other duties as assigned to assist employees in the Office of Communications and Marketing.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to work up to 20 hours per week, concentrated M-F during normal business hours, with the potential for some nights and weekends to cover special events.
