Ciklum is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer (AWS) to join our team full-time in Poland.

About the role:

As a Senior DevOps Engineer (AWS), become a part of of an Infrastructure Engineering Team responsible for building and maintaining tools to ensure the applications meet SLA's and help maximum security, scalability and performance.


Responsibilities:

  • Write code and contribute to the software architecture of a highly concurrent, high-throughput Infrastructure as Code (IaC) abstraction layer on AWS
  • Participate in on-call rotations to meet service level agreements (SLAs) 24x7
  • Continue to automate common operations tasks and develop new run-books
  • Build and maintain complex CI/CD pipelines, automate infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and configuration management
  • Analyze infrastructure performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement strategies for cost efficiency and optimization
  • Lead efforts in diagnosing complex system-wide issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventative measures
  • Design secure infrastructure patterns, conduct security audits, drive security initiatives, and ensure organization-wide security considerations
  • Mentor team members, promote continuous learning, share best practices, and facilitate team contributions to operational improvements
  • Stay updated on emerging DevOps tools and AWS services, evaluate their impact, and drive adoption

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 5 years of experience in a DevOps engineering role with significant AWS experience, including:
  • 3+ years managing AWS container orchestration services such as ECS or EKS
  • AWS networking, firewall implementation, and security tools (e.g., AWS Firewall, Palo Alto Cloud Firewall, Shield, WAF, IAM)
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing large-scale AWS solutions
  • Experience leading and mentoring DevOps teams
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with Terraform
  • Experience with configuration automation tools like Puppet or Chef
  • Strong debugging skills and experience in coding/scripting with languages like Python, Ruby, Go, or similar
  • Experience administering Linux and/or Windows operating systems
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and analytical skills
  • Ability to influence others, build relationships, manage conflicts, and handle negotiations effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and architect robust solutions
  • Relevant AWS certifications are highly preferred (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect Professional, AWS DevOps Engineer Professional, AWS Security Specialty)


Desirable:

  • Cloud: Deep knowledge of AWS services, architectures, and design patterns
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Advanced skills in CloudFormation, Terraform, or other IaC tools
  • Programming and Scripting: Strong scripting skills (Python, Ruby, Go or other.)
  • Monitoring Tools: Experience with monitoring tools such as SignalFX/Splunk, CloudWatch, ElasticSearch, or Dynatrace
  • Containerization and Microservices: Extensive experience with Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), and microservices architectures
  • Complex Configuration Management: Expertise in configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.)
  • Robust Networking: In-depth knowledge of networking concepts, VPC design, hybrid cloud architectures, and network security
  • Security Focus: Strong understanding of cloud security principles, penetration testing, and compliance standards (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI DSS)
  • Enterprise SaaS Platforms: Experience in working with Enterprise SaaS platforms
  • CI/CD Tools: Exposure to continuous integration/delivery tools like Jenkins or GitLab
  • Database Troubleshooting: Experience troubleshooting databases like MySQL or MSSQL
