Job Overview:
Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for an Application Architect (.NET, React) to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for architectural design, technical guidance, and contributions to the product vision. This is an opportunity to provide technical guidance and direction to Software Engineers in multiple functional teams and locales as we migrate to a microservices architecture.
The Application Architect will ensure Applied Systems software is effectively and efficiently designed, produced, tested and maintainable. We expect the Application Architect to provide and maintain standards leveraged across all teams to ensure our software products are highly scalable and performant with a technical design allowing for future innovation without complete refactoring.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate proactively within a team of Application Architects, imparting architectural guidance, building Roadmap, and serving as the primary technical authority for concurrent complex development projects
- Collaborate with the enterprise architecture team to ensure that the application design aligns with the broader architecture blueprint
- Utilize advanced knowledge of system flow and develop standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation
- Present in-depth analysis with interpretive thinking to define issues and develop innovative solutions. Develop proofs of concept as necessary to demonstrate the efficacy of these solutions
- Champion architecture concerns including, but not limited to scalability, data integrity, and security
- Evaluate and recommend software technologies fit to purpose
- Create technical documents relating to application architecture, design steps, engineering best practices, integration processes, and testing procedures
- Participate in code reviews as needed to ensure quality solutions and proper standard adherence
- Participate in product design meetings to ensure clear technical direction for the developers and teams in their areas of responsibility
- Provide guidance through mentorship programs and collaborate with development managers to pinpoint potential opportunities for skill enhancement for developers
What You’ll Need to Succeed
We’re looking for someone who:
- Can work 100% remotely, or from an Applied Systems office
Your experience should include some or all of the following:
- 5+ years of enterprise software architecture & development in a cloud native environment using C#, .NET Core, JavaScript (ReactJS), Web APIs, and RESTful Web Services
- Previous Architecture experience
- Experience in any of the following an asset:
- Experience in GCP, AWS, or Azure
- Containerization experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience migrating from monolithic architecture to microservices
- Proven ability to think creatively and develop new ways of handling technical and project tasks (thinks outside the box)
- Must possess excellent communication skills
- Experience with the Agile Scrum or Kanban methodologies
- Possess strong work ethic and ability to deliver solutions under a tight deadline
- Expert troubleshooting skills and research abilities
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience
