Job description

Tomorrow's Education is a remote-first startup founded by serial entrepreneurs with a vision to unleash the power of students to become leaders for a sustainable future. Tomorrow’s first cohort of students started in April 2021 with the Professional Master in Sustainability, Entrepreneurship, and Technology in cooperation with the Vienna University of Economics and Business. Since then, Tomorrow has launched its own degree programs and achieved state-recognition status in Germany for its newly established university.

Tomorrow University of Applied Sciences (ToU) is part of Tomorrow's Education. It is a state-recognized, private university, currently running two undergraduate programs (B.A. in Responsible Entrepreneurship & Management and B.Sc. in AI & Sustainable Technologies) and the Impact MBA in Sustainability, Innovation, and Leadership as well as the Impact MSc in Sustainability, Innovation and Technology. The ToU model is characterized by a challenge-based approach where learners master competencies through active and collaborative learning methodologies. Our mission is to empower students for the challenges of the 21st century in close cooperation with startups, established companies, and research institutions. For this purpose, we are looking for academics of tomorrow with an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset, who are interested in new teaching and learning models, and who bring a future-oriented mindset to create the university of tomorrow with us.

We are looking to fill one full-time professor position to support our degree programs. The role holder will have expertise in either (or combined) the fields of AI, sustainability, and/or entrepreneurship. We are looking for candidates who have expertise in fostering responsible innovation and inspiring sustainability leaders through their teaching and research. In this role, you might be expected to take on program director responsibilities. You will also become part of the founding academic team, taking initiatives to create and carry out your own projects from day one.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contributing to the recruitment of students
  • Ensuring selection and admissions policies are followed
  • Introducing students to the program
  • Developing the program curriculum and ensuring documentation is up-to-date

  • Maintaining contact with program graduates
  • Ensuring the quality of the program and liaising with accrediting bodies as appropriate
  • Contributing to the identification of and collaboration with external partners, ambassadors, and mentors

Professorship Responsibilities:

  • Course development and program management
  • Planning, content creation, and delivery of introductory and advanced asynchronous courses with synchronous teaching components in the field of green or clean energy or sustainable technologies, computer science (especially AI and machine learning)
  • Planning and implementation of research projects including publication activities, ideally focused on the acquisition of third-party funding
  • Advising, supporting, and supervising students
  • Developing appropriate assessment instruments and criteria, assessing the work and progress of students according to the criteria, and providing constructive feedback to students
  • Supervising student projects, challenges, and bachelor’s and master’s theses
  • Establishing partnerships with companies and research institutions
  • Administrative activities and committee work
