Director of Data Operations (Remote)

Fulltime, (Home-based) in Netherlands, Spain, United Kingdom

As part of BCD Travel's consulting group, Advito, the Director of Data Operations will be responsible for the oversight, planning, delivery, and overall success of company-wide data operations. This individual will have 5 to 6 direct reports and a greater team of approximately 20 data specialists/analysts that are spread out across the globe. Your team will be responsible for data ingestion from multiple sources, normalization, matching, cleansing, storing, and distribution to interested parties or applications within Advito. This role will also be the lead for data compliance (i.e. GDPR) and ensuring proper controls and documentation are in place to protect Advito and our clients. This role requires an understanding and level of professionalism regarding team leadership/dynamics, KPIs that track team optimization, data consolidation and storage, and the compliance regulations surrounding a global organization. This is a position with high exposure within Advito and our parent company (BCD Travel).

As Director of Data Operations, you will

  • Lead Advito’s data operations
  • Focus on the metrics surrounding organizational performance (KPIs, team utilization, billable hours, etc.)
  • Manage the career path and success management for your direct reports and their teams
  • Improve and simplify processes for acquiring, cleansing, integrating, and storing data
  • Align with other leaders in the organization who rely on timely and accurate delivery of data
  • Stay abreast of data tools and trends (general and travel-related data)
  • Identify threats and opportunities
  • Travel occasionally. Team is 100% virtual and spread across US, Costa Rica, Eastern/Western Europe, and India.

About You

  • Proof points of being a well-organized, trusted leader at previous organizations
  • Prior experience with change management and team transformation. You will be helping to architect the makeup of the team and the career pathing for its members.
  • Past experience with operational excellence and/or Lean Six Sigma.
  • Past experience in data ingestion, consolidation algorithms, data compliance (you will be leading a team of data engineers)
  • Data architecture experience (strategic)
  • Passion and experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Advanced analytical and reporting skills
  • Data QC (Quality Control) background
  • Well-developed problem solving and decision-making capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize and organize efforts effectively with tools/resources available – some of which may be limited at times, requiring you to roll up your sleeves
  • Excellent command of English language
