Job description

Purpose

This senior level role owns the growth and profitability of the Clinical Pathology and Blood Bank offerings built on the Clinisys Laboratory Solution from a product management perspective. The individual in the role will maintain and execute business plans for the products including business model, product offerings, product roadmaps, pricing strategies, forecasts in partnership with sales and finance, etc. In addition, this leader will lead the cross functional development of the offerings taking into consideration market conditions, customer expectations, competitor market placements, distribution channels, financial and administrative implications, implementation costs, and overall corporate strategy.

Essential Functions

  • Set, communicate, drive & monitors product family strategic plan including the vision, goals initiatives that flows down to product line strategic plans. Contribute to product portfolio strategy
  • Identify opportunities from market trends, develop market models for new target segments, oversee market/pricing research, and map competitive landscapes
  • Engage with prospective and current clients to identify user and buyer personas, gather customer needs, gain input on feature prioritization and design, assist with product sales, address product satisfaction issues and build strategic relationships
  • Maintain the product roadmap, drive release planning preparation, define the product epics and features and work collaboratively with product development to analyze requirements, document workflows, design features, provide business requirements for 3rd party products and sign off on product feature completeness.
  • Set and monitor on market performance indicators such as product sales growth, upgrade adoption, support case volume, etc. and address areas of concern to continuously improve product family profitability
  • Work closely with sales to support product training and demos, complete RFPs, gather product feedback and analyze win/loss data
  • Collaborate with marketing to define and execute product naming, positioning, messaging, thought leadership and marketing plans
  • Identify, negotiate and manage business partnerships with 3rd party vendors specific to your product family. Advise Product Managers on their partner agreements
  • Utilize Clinisys and industry product management operating mechanisms, processes and tools. Own and continuously improve one or more Product Management processes
  • Excels at managing talent including hiring, motivating, mentoring and developing high performers
  • All other job duties as assigned

Skills needed to be successful

  • Adept at integrative thinking to synthesize information into strategies that include visions, goals and initiatives.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills including the ability to demonstrate thought leadership and communicate at the executive level, and speak to large external groups publicly
  • Capable of planning, executing, tracking and delivering multiple small to large scale projects at a time
  • Able to lead meetings, set agendas, facilitate brainstorming, achieve decisions, and distribute minutes and actions.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office.

Required Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Management / Engineering / Computer Science, Biological Sciences or related degree. Experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • 7 years’ experience with Product Management or equivalent relevant business experience through roles in sales, marketing, product development, implementation and/or support of Clinisys products
  • 5 years’ experience within the healthcare industry
  • 3 years’ experience in clinical laboratory, and/or blood bank ideally through working at one or more laboratories, software/instrumentation companies, or at Clinisys
  • Knowledge of health information management (HIM) principles, HL7, DICOM, HIPAA, IHE, and LOINC desired.

Preferred Experience & Education

  • MBA and/or master’s in health administration, Information Management, Engineering, Computer Science preferred.
  • Recognized thought leader in the clinical laboratory industry that has presented at conferences, has a network of contacts and has a pulse on the market’s direction
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management systems (LIS and/or LIMS), blood bank software, instrument middleware and/or Electronic Medical Record systems (EMRs)
  • Certified Agile Product Manager or Owner
  • Pragmatic Marketing, New Product Development Professional (NPDP) or other product management training
  • Experience using Aha! product management software

  • Up to 7 direct reports
Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Up to 35% travel may be required.
  • Moderate lifting/carrying 15-44 lbs.; use of fingers; walking/standing 2-6 hours
  • Travel to client sites that can pose risks associated with healthcare organization.
  • May be required to follow customer location health and safety requirements

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position who is based in Colorado is generally within the range of $118,000 to $165,000 for annual base salary. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay may be above or below this range
