Responsible for providing effective support and customer service delivery in the areas of risk mitigation and compliance for the American Cancer Society (ACS or ‘the Society”). In addition to providing support, work closely with government agencies and ACS team members to gather information for reporting and to facilitate compliance with certain licensing, reporting, laws and regulations. This position will support the Sr. Consultant, Indirect Tax and the Consultant, Regulatory Compliance.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and file regulatory reports associated with Auctions, Raffles/bingo/other games of chance, and liquor licenses.

  • Develop and maintain documentation on compliance procedures and resources to aid team members.

  • Remain current on ACS policies related to events and fundraising.

  • Remain current on IRS, state and local regulatory reporting requirements to ensure ACS is in compliance.

  •  Prepare and file Sales and Use Tax returns and monitor status/renew sales and use tax exemptions and resale certificates.

  • Prepare and file Property Tax returns and monitor status/renew property tax exemptions.

  • Prepare and file Charitable Gift Annuity and Census reports.

  • Assist in filing of unclaimed property returns in all applicable states and localities.

  • Prepare and file business licenses and seller’s permits.

  • Gather and analyze monthly reports that will be used for preparation of returns.

  • Conduct sales and use tax reviews.

  • Serve as a backup to the Consultant, Regulatory Compliance and Sr. Consultant, Indirect Tax.

  • Ad hoc projects and additional duties as assigned

FORMAL KNOWLEDGE    

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, law or related field required with a minimum of 3 years relevant work experienced or equivalent of education and experience.

SPECIALIZED TRAINING OR KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of ACS financial systems including, but not limited to Salesforce, NetSuite, ACS Marketplace, SharePoint, iContract and Workday.

The starting rate is $21.00 to $27.00 per hour. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
