We are seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) or Analyst to join our team as an Application & Product Security specialist. As a Technical SME/Analyst, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the security and integrity of our products throughout their lifecycle. This position requires a deep understanding of product security concepts, industry best practices, and emerging trends in the field. By staying abreast of the latest security trends, technologies, and best practices, you will ensure that our products remain at the forefront of security excellence. 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough analysis and assessment of product security requirements and specifications.
  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis to identify innovative solutions and technologies that can be applied to our products. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify potential security risks and develop mitigation strategies, leveraging emerging technologies and industry best practices.
  • Research and provide recommendation to implement security controls, protocols, and policies to ensure product security compliance.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, vulnerabilities, and attack vectors relevant to our products.
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to internal teams regarding Product & Application security best practices.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and partners to evaluate new innovative solutions.
  • Participate in product design and development meetings to provide security recommendations and ensure secure coding practices.
  • Conduct security training/knowledge mind shares for internal stakeholders to promote a culture of security consciousness.
  • Stay informed about industry regulations and standards related to product security, such as ISO 27001,CIS, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, etc and ensure compliance.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, Information Security, or a related field: This requirement ensures the individual has a solid foundation in the technical aspects of the role. An advanced degree may signify a deeper level of understanding and commitment to the field. 
  • Advanced degree or relevant certifications: A relevant Master’s Degree or industry-recognized certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), are highly desirable, but not required. 
  • Excellent communication skills: You will need to be able to communicate effectively with various internal and external stakeholders and partners, including the Product & application security teams, and other departments within the Security organization and Ciena, along with external parties to explain complex security issues in a way that non-technical people can understand. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills: The ability to quickly analyze a situation, identify the best course of action, and implement solutions is crucial in incident response. 
  • Technical Expertise: A high performing individual will have a deep understanding of various security domains and is proficient in using security technologies.
  • Analytical Thinking: A high performing individual will have strong analytical skills. The individual will be able to quickly analyze a situation, identify the root cause of an incident, and develop an effective response strategy. 
  • Detail-Oriented: A successful individual will have a track record of paying close attention to detail, which helps in detecting anomalies and investigating incidents thoroughly and will understand that even minor details can be crucial in incident response and event investigation. 
  • Continuous Learner: A high performing individual is always learning. They stay updated with the latest developments in cybersecurity and continuously improve their skills and knowledge. 
  • Adaptability: You should be able to adapt quickly to changing security threats and technologies. 
  • Teamwork: The successful individual should be able to work effectively with their team and other departments to achieve the company's security goals.
