Position Summary
The Physician Office Nurse is responsible for the provision of nursing care as reflected in the SC LPN scope of practice including health data collection, administering medications, implementing patient interventions, assessing patient responses, and basic health teaching.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Perform medication pre-authorizations and refill requests
- Provide follow-up to lab results and medication changes
- Assisting physician with patient set-up and preparations
- Perform nurse visits and patient education
- Triaging incoming phone calls
- Check-in and check-out when needed
- Rooming patients and performing data collections, vitals, EMR input
- Sending outgoing referrals and managing fax in-box / distributing faxes to proper staff
- Ordering / managing general inventory and office supplies
- Assist with staff training
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
-2 years previous experience as an LPN, preferred.
Education:
-High School Diploma or Equivalent, required.
Licenses/Certifications:
-LPN Licensure with South Carolina Board of Nursing required.
-American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required to be initially completed with the TH Organizational Development Office within 30 calendar days of hire date (exceptions to obtain certification from a provider other than the TH Organizational Development Office are approved by TH Organizational Development on a case by case basis). BLS Recertification is required every two (2) years.
-ACLS preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
-Possesses skills and abilities required in a multifaceted environment in addition to those related to nursing.
-Computer knowledge, required.
-Phlebotomy skills and experience, preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; frequently to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert up to 15 pounds of force occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
