MySQL is the world's most popular open source database software. The MySQL Global Business Unit is responsible for promoting, marketing and selling MySQL database products and services worldwideAs a member of the MySQL Sales Organization, you will sell products and services to an assigned geographic territory to achieve a revenue quota. This role reports to the MySQL EMEA Sales Director.Primary responsibility will include finding and generating new customers, qualifying, and monetizing community users which would benefit from utilizing MySQL Enterprise services and reserved features. The candidate would be responsible for developing new accounts and/or expanding existing accounts within the defined territory.

You will also be responsible for driving maximum adoption and subscription utilization across your customer base to ultimately drive and book renewals. You will be responsible for renewing subscription contracts to preserve revenue from your book of business.

Knowledge and Skills preferred:

Technical:

  • IT/Tech background including cloud, database and infrastructure software experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new and often complex business systems quickly and effectively
  • Familiarity with database, application/web server, and other enterprise markets and technologies
  • Understands business use of Oracle products, services and future directions


Professional:

  • Energetic, tenacious team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experienced in opening up new markets for a start-up or high growth company
  • Self-motivated, focused, and driven to achieve goals
  • Able to apply knowledge and make decisions with minimal direction from management
  • Projects a positive, and professional image


Qualifications:

  • English and Africaans language is required.

Responsibilities

This Sales position carries monthly, quarterly, and annual goals. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Close business to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual bookings objectives
  • Prospect, identify, qualify, and develop sales pipeline
  • Ability to engage in executive level discussions from VP to CXO
  • Enhance and leverage internal business relationships to identify and expand additional opportunities
  • Expand commitment and sales bookings of MySQL from existing paying customers.
  • Work with MySQL Marketing to conduct seminars, webinars, assist with trade shows, and other marketing related events to drive interest, demand and pipeline.
  • Travel to customer locations, marketing events, and internal MySQL events as required
  • Work and co-ordinate the activities of your assigned Technical sales consultant to ensure the technical needs of current and prospective customers are addressed fully and in a timely manner.
  • Understand customer requirements, level of adoption of the MySQL features and assess the renewal risk


Facilitates the development of strategic marketing and new business plans for all assigned partners to meet or exceed assigned business goals. Works with Partners to identify opportunities and create demand through lead generation activities and target account selling strategies. Actively track joint sales pipeline and meet or exceed quarterly and annual revenue targets.
