Cohen & Company is seeking a Tax Partner with a focus in High Net Worth, an entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to client service to join our team!  

 

The High Net Worth practice consists of a suite of offerings, primarily geared to tax and advisory-related services. Examples of such services are individual and trust tax compliance and consulting services, state and international tax compliance and consulting, trust, and estate planning and other high net worth-oriented value-add consulting services.  Value is typically driven through a model of relationship focused, proactive client service and is supported by a strong compliance, consulting, operational, and technology infrastructure. 

 

Locations: 

  • Chicago, IL; Baltimore, MD; Detroit or St. Clair Shores, MI; Akron, Cleveland, Youngstown, OH; Philadelphia or Pittsburgh, PA; Buffalo or New York City, NY; Milwaukee, WI   
Responsibilities:

Business Development: 

  • Responsible for strategy and growth of the firm’s services to High Net Worth, including identifying market trends, anticipating opportunities, and developing go-to-market strategies/plans 
  • Build strong relationships and interact regularly with clients, internal client partners and up-and-coming talent, external industry groups, Centers of Influence, industry Market Leaders in adjacent sectors, and Service Line Leaders – coordinating to align skills with market trends and drive strategic technical leadership hires 
  • Establish sales and revenue goals, and actively manage a strategic business plan and opportunity pipeline that ensures these goals are met 

 

Client Experience: 

  • Serve and build relationships with clients, monitoring client service and value proposition, acting as trusted advisor to ensure we are a premium provider providing quality work, open communication, sound advice, and proactive service 
  • Develop a comprehensive approach to meet the needs of High Net Worth clients, including leadership around High Net Worth infrastructure with a focus on scaling the practice and demonstrating intellectual curiosity to ensure client needs are met 
  • Continuously assess each client’s needs as their goals and objectives evolve, adapting our client service and strategies 

 

Leadership, Mentorship & Staff Development: 

  • Respect and celebrate the value of each of the stories, backgrounds, perspectives, and ideas of each of our team members, building meaningful relationships with all those you interact with 
  • Be growth oriented and work toward building a leveraged model, when appropriate 
  • Provide mentoring and motivation to the team, including developing young leaders via active contribution to training and development 
  • Exhibit forward thinking, innovation, and delivering an exceptional work product  

 

Technical: 

  • Perform partner level compliance review and tax return supervision  
  • Serve as a professional role model, in the role of tax advisor to many of the firm’s most valued clients  
  • Serve as a go-to resource for technical questions or knowledge
Qualifications:

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree; CPA or JD  
  • 12+ years of progressive experience within tax, preferably in a public accounting firm and including leadership experience with a consistent record of accomplishment, accountability, and history of execution against budget and strategic initiatives 
  • 3+ years Partner level or equivalent experience 
  • In-depth knowledge and a concentration in High Net Worth Tax
