The RF Field Service Engineer plays an essential role in supporting customer test/production facilities on regularly scheduled or as-required basis. The RF Field Service Engineer is responsible for efficiently carrying out services of a preventive nature, but also have good troubleshooting skills to identify faults during visits of a corrective nature. This position works closely with the customer and engineering staff to ensure customer systems are serviced and remain operational. The RF Engineer needs to have a wide array of technical skills and be able to work independently. The successful candidate will be required to coordinate multi-disciplined teams in a consolidated effort to successfully support systems for microwave measurement of various test items such as antennas and radomes for radar, communications, satellite and other applications. This position offers opportunities for the candidate to grow into other roles within the company, such as systems engineering, applications engineering, or design.
Required Skills:
- Strong analytical skills to understand complex RF/Microwave systems and problem solve
- Performing bench level measurements of RF Active and Passive Components such as: LNA, Amplifiers, Couplers, Power Dividers, Limiters, Mixers, Frequency Multipliers, Diplexers, and Filters
- Experience with test equipment: spectrum analyzer, RF power meter, VNA, oscilloscope
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- This position may require approximately 50% domestic and international travel
Must have the ability to obtain or have a U.S. Government security clearance.
Desirable skills:
- Good understanding of mechanical systems such as positioners
- Experience with customer interaction
- Familiarity with microwave antenna measurement
- Hands-on experience with a variety of antenna test ranges and knowledge of mechanical positioning systems
- Troubleshooting system level electronic systems
- Robotics, Motion Control Systems
- Experience in RF systems such as radar, satellite, or other similarly complex systems
Experience Level: 2+ years of directly applicable industry experience
Education Level: Bachelors (Required), Masters (Desired)
Significant relevant US military or industry experience (>8 years) can be considered in lieu of a degree
