We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Flood Underwriter to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for underwriting personal lines flood risks, managing agency relationships, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. You will work closely with agents to assess risk, provide expert guidance, and generate necessary reports. Your ability to communicate effectively and solve problems will be crucial to the success of this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite personal lines flood insurance risks in accordance with company guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with insurance agents and brokers, providing expert guidance and support.
  • Communicate effectively with agents to ensure clarity and understanding of underwriting decisions and risk assessments.
  • Evaluate and analyze risk exposures, making informed decisions on coverage and pricing.
  • Prepare, analyze, and distribute underwriting reports and documents as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize underwriting processes and improve service delivery.
  • Stay updated on market trends, regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
  • Resolve complex underwriting issues and provide innovative solutions to challenges.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in underwriting, with a focus on flood insurance.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with agents and manage agency relationships.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound underwriting decisions.
  • Experience in generating and analyzing underwriting reports.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, Insurance, or a related field.
  • Professional designation such as Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) or Associate in National Flood Insurance (ANFI) is preferred.

Software Proficiency

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with document management systems (e.g., SharePoint) is a plus.
