About This Position
The Specialist, Portfolio Finance will be responsible for analyzing and maintaining multiple large complex project financial models driving investment decisions and economic outcomes for various project types including Solar, BESS, Hydrogen, Data Centers, Wind etc. Adept at financial modeling in Excel, the Specialist will leverage their skillset to run cases, scenarios and sensitivities across distinct models. The Specialist will be a key member of the Portfolio Finance team reporting directly to Manager, Portfolio Finance within the Capital Markets department. This role requires the ability & willingness to interact with internal stakeholders including, ‘Project Finance’, ‘Asset Management’, ‘FP&A’, and others. The Specialist will also likely be involved in tax equity fundings, construction loans and back-leverage loans as responsibilities increase with time. Active communication in addition to highly organizational skills will ensure success in this role. Knowledge & understanding of tax equity finance, project finance deal structuring, financial derivatives,FP&A and portfolio analytics is a plus.
Overview of Department
The Portfolio Finance team is a relatively newly formed team within the Capital Markets department and is growing. Our team is responsible for closing, maintaining, tracking and optimizing structured finance transactions, including non-recourse debt, tax equity, portfolio financings, interest rate management products and hybrid facilities across our portfolio of projects. We act as the strategic team connecting treasury, Asset Management, Project Finance & Corporate finance together, owning and running processes. Our team is responsible for all operating projects financials.
Responsibilities and DutiesAssist in overseeing various project or portfolio transactions that have moved from origination and financial close into ongoing maintenance, including construction financing, tax equity, portfolio financing, and hybrid facilities.Model and value projects or portfolios of projects once the projects are in construction and operation.Support Portfolio Finance & Asset Management in FP&A activity such as capturing project actuals, budgeting, working capital modeling etc.Coordinate and submit financial reports to investorsLiaise with and support Asset Management on normal course reportingSupport Portfolio Finance & Treasury with ongoing construction financing or hybrid facility draws and support Project Finance with Tax Equity and/or Portfolio Financing fundings. Qualifications and Skills1-4 + years of proven track record in investment banking, project finance, buy-side, or corporate finance experience. Bachelor’s degree. Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus - Significant and relevant experience maintaining or structuring project finance or non-recourse structures.Other types of deal experience is also welcome - we’re looking for a candidate that can own models, and has highly organizational skillsSignificant and relevant experience with financial modeling for large, complex infrastructure or power generation assets. Experience with different types of power generation, including solar, BESS, wind, gas-fired, or nuclear is preferred. Tax Equity deal knowledge is strongly preferredCollaborative attitude & high organizational skills are fundamental
