Zeitview is the leading intelligent aerial imaging company for high-value infrastructure, providing businesses with actionable, real-time insights to recover revenue, reduce risk and improve build quality. We serve customers in the solar, wind, insurance, construction, real estate, and critical infrastructure industries. Trusted by the largest enterprises in the world, Zeitview is active in over 70 countries. Our mission is to accelerate the global transition to renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure through advanced inspection solutions. Take a look at our latest achievements here!

About the Role:

We, at Zeitview, are looking for a Sr. Navigation Engineer II to join our Data Capture team! In this role, you’ll design and implement robust navigation algorithms, including path and trajectory planning, for autonomous systems. This is a 100% remote role, and we are open to candidaets anywhere in the U.S. or Canada.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop adaptive behavior planning systems utilizing state machines to enable dynamic and responsive navigation.
  • Implement sensor fusion techniques to combine data from multiple sensors (e.g., IMU, GPS, lidar), ensuring accurate and consistent localization and navigation.
  • Apply control algorithms, such as LQR steering control or Model Predictive Control (MPC), to ensure precise vehicle steering and stability.
  • Integrate reinforcement learning and exploration strategies to improve adaptability and efficiency in navigation.
  • Work with simulation environments like Gazebo and Unreal Engine to test and validate navigation, control, and path planning strategies.
  • Write clean, well-documented C++ and ROS code to ensure maintainability and high performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate navigation solutions in both real-world and simulated environments.
  • Optimize code for real-time performance, ensuring safe and efficient navigation in dynamic environments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in C++ programming, with a focus on high-performance, real-time applications.
  • Expertise in ROS (Robot Operating System), including ROS2.
  • In-depth understanding of navigation concepts, including path planning, trajectory generation, and behavior planning using state machines.
  • Strong knowledge of sensor fusion techniques, with experience combining data from multiple sensors (e.g., IMU, GPS, lidar) to ensure accurate localization and navigation.
  • Demonstrated experience with localization techniques such as extended Kalman filters (EKF), particle filters, or similar approaches.
  • Expertise in control algorithms, including LQR steering control, Model Predictive Control (MPC), or similar methods for precise vehicle control.
  • Experience with obstacle detection and collision avoidance strategies.
  • Proficiency in optimizing navigation and control algorithms for low-latency, real-time performance.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, especially in complex, multi-sensor environments.

Other Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with simulation platforms such as Gazebo and Unreal Engine.
  • Strong understanding of control systems, SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping), and behavior planning frameworks.
  • Familiarity with robotics middleware (e.g., MoveIt) and visualization tools.
  • Experience with Python for scripting and data analysis tasks.
  • Strong debugging skills and ability to troubleshoot complex navigation and planning issues.
  • Effective communication and documentation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in multi-team setups.
  • Integrate reinforcement learning and exploration strategies to improve adaptability and efficiency in navigation (highly recommended)

What’s Included:

  • Feel great about your work as you join a leading mission-driven intelligent aerial imaging company - our goal is to accelerate the global transition to renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure, and you personally will play a large part in making this happen!
  • Your choice of multiple medical insurance plans, including one that covers 100% of the premium for yourself and your dependents
  • 100% paid dental and vision insurance
  • Unlimited PTO: We mean it when we say we prioritize work-life balance and mental health. Just be sure to share pictures of your vacation when you return!
  • Equity: Stock incentive program
  • Work-from-home environment: flexibility for employees should be the norm for companies
  • Autonomy and upward mobility
  • Diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture: a place where your voice matters
