The role of Payroll Specialist, Canada requires advanced knowledge of the end-to-end payroll cycle. Hands-on experience with the various inputs and outputs, such as third-party interfaces, timekeeping, tax filing/compliance, accounting, benefits, and other key areas that integrate with payroll is essential.

On a typical day you will:

  • Employee inquiry resolution and advanced issue resolution

  • Daily, proactive interactions with key internal business partners and customers

  • Adherence to the defined payroll calendar

  • Maintenance of standard work/procedures

  • Integration data management (connector between Workday and GlobalView)

  • Payroll reconciliations

  • End of year processes

  • Maintenance of the payroll blueprint

  • Report creation

  • Third Party Payment oversight

  • Collaboration with vendors

  • Monitor banking files and address rejects

  • Basic testing/QA of change requests

  • In-depth research of escalated issues

  • Development/guidance of JR team members

  • Supervise and review work carried out by payroll team. Ensure work is performed effectively and efficiently

  • Responsible for staff training in all aspects of the payroll department including system training and problem solving

  • Assess and resolve escalated payroll issues and discrepancies internal and external

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years payroll experience or a combination of Payroll, HR and/or Payroll IT experience

  • GlobalView/SAP preferred with knowledge of Workday and associated integrations

  • Progressive analytical skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (excel, word, etc.)

  • Advanced knowledge of country and localized payroll legislation

  • Local legislation knowledge

  • Working knowledge of International Assignees

  • Additional Competencies:

  • Competent verbal and written communication skills

  • Self-starter able to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment

  • Strong organization skills

  • Team Player

  • Proficient in English (speak & write)
