Job description

You as part of tonies:
We are looking for an experienced Senior People Partner to act as a strategic advisor and trusted partner for our global Product, Marketing and Content & Licencing team. In this setup, you will work across multiple geographies and collaborate closely with our C-Suite members, People Managers as well as the local People team and General Managers to ensure alignment with local standards, procedures, and regulations. This role requires a balance of strategic thinking, leadership coaching, and hands-on People Ops management.
Your tasks and responsibilities will include:
  • Strategic Partnering & Advisory: Act as a trusted People & Culture advisor and strategic partner to people managers in your designated functional area. Work closely with local People & Culture Managers and GMs (in Germany, the UK, France and the US) to ensure your guidance aligns with local standards and legal requirements.
  • Leadership Coaching: Coach and counsel people managers on effective leadership and management practices. Provide expert advice on People practices and policies and equip them to deliver a seamless onboarding experience, provide performance feedback, and foster a positive team culture.
  • Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning: Partner with the talent acquisition team to identify and recruit top talent.
  • Employee Relations & Conflict Resolution: Manage employee relations issues by providing guidance on conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and workplace dynamics. Offer solutions that align with company culture while meeting legal requirements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and nurture strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the Board, C-level executives, and functional leaders.
  • Employee Lifecycle Management: Oversee the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding to offboarding. Execute performance feedback processes, salary reviews, personal budget planning, and engagement surveys to ensure a cohesive employee experience. Ensure the smooth execution of operational tasks.
  • Collaboration with HR Centers of Expertise: Work closely with Centers of Expertise (CoEs) to roll out global People initiatives, policies, and processes.
  • Change Management & Organizational Development: Support organizational change efforts, ensure changes are executed efficiently, while maintaining a people-centric approach.
  • HRIS Data Integrity: Ensure the accuracy of employee data within the HR Information System (Personio). Regularly check and update information to maintain high data standards.
What we are looking for:
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years as an HR Business Partner in a global company, experience within the consumer good industry would be a plus.
  • HR Expertise: In-depth knowledge of global HR practices, employment laws, and regulations (required expertise in Germany; additional experience in the UK, US, or France is a plus). Experience in multi-country environments and working within a matrix structure.
  • Business Acumen & Strategic Leadership: Strong understanding of business operations and the key drivers impacting various teams as well as the ability to collaborate with senior leaders to align people strategies with business objectives and act as a trusted advisor to managers at all levels.
  • Systemic Thinking & Problem-Solving: Proficient in anticipating challenges and navigating interconnected factors with strong systemic understanding and problem-solving skills. Experienced in managing complex employee relations issues, resolving workplace conflicts, and fostering a positive, inclusive work environment that promotes long-term solutions.
  • Coaching & Mentorship: Strong coaching skills with a track record of developing managers into effective leaders, providing feedback and guidance on employee relations and performance management.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Outstanding relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence effectively across all levels, from senior leadership to individual contributors.
  • Employee Lifecycle Management: Hands-on experience managing all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including performance management, employee engagement, and offboarding processes.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English is required; proficiency in German is highly desirable.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to attend calls and meetings in the late afternoon to collaborate with US-based colleagues. If you're based outside the Düsseldorf region, please be prepared to work from our Düsseldorf office for at least three days each month.
