Job description

Overview:

This position is responsible for daily maintenance and grounds operations, which includes workflow and operational integrity of the facility and its equipment. This position supervises the maintenance and grounds staff, ensuring all tasks are completed timely and accurately, lending expertise when needed. This position is responsible for overseeing building maintenance preventative and corrective work to the facility, including but not limited to plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, machine servicing, electrical, or vehicle servicing. Oversees the monitoring of building equipment maintenance procedures, and ensures safety guidelines and procedures are followed.

Responsibilities:
  1. Hires, trains, conducts performance evaluations, and directs the workflow for staff. This position is also accountable for participating in the development and implementation of department goals and objectives. Ensures all goals and objectives are met, and ensures regulatory compliance for all assigned responsibilities and equipment. Assists the Manager and/or Director in working with department personnel on departmental budgetary planning and management for budgetary control, cost projections, and feasibility for all related activities and projects.
  1. Responsible for day-to-day staff management and administration, which includes managing staff timecards and schedules, appropriate new hire readiness/processing/partnering, staff FTE status changes, staffing levels, staff development and education, corrective action management, staff portfolio audits, staff education completion, staff timely staff termination processing, etc. Creates and fosters a culture of health, safety, and camaraderie within the department.
  1. Ensures facility maintenance and grounds materials and supplies are appropriate for budgetary constraints. Ensures maintenance, repair and replacement schedules are managed appropriately, and maintains records to keep within the projected capital equipment budget.
  1. Oversees maintenance repair work, alterations and renovation upgrades to the facility, as assigned. Manages construction installation activities and processes to ensure the integrity of established facility standards. Evaluates and resolves complex infrastructure, personnel, and other maintenance or grounds related issues. Makes recommendations to department management. Ensures success of the preventative maintenance program for all facility maintenance and grounds operations.
  1. Ensures regulatory compliance, and compliance with work standards, codes and safety regulations for the facility. Develops and implements processes for compliance in all areas of responsibility. Ensures successful record maintenance for facility compliance with all applicable Authorities Having Jurisdiction including local, state, federal and all other regulatory codes pertaining to any and all components of the facilities maintenance and grounds operations. Enforces corrective action measures for non-compliance. As required, implements and attends annual code compliance and update training.
  1. Manages and ensures successful collaboration with all other divisions and departments to meet the facility maintenance and grounds needs. Negotiates priorities, plans staff work schedules and job assignments. Recommends use of outside contractors as appropriate. Ensures outside contractors are compliant with established hospital system standards. Enforces corrective action measures for non-compliance.
  1. Ensures and monitors personnel instruction regarding applicable maintenance and grounds hazards to ensure the safe operation and use of equipment. Ensures guidance, direction and training is completed timely. Coordinates the maintenance and grounds team to ensure continuing educational materials are offered for necessary training.
  1. Provides leadership and directs the work of other facilities related department staff in the absence of their direct supervisor(s) or lead. 

Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Foundation Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.

Qualifications:

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge, plus vocational or technical training. Must possess a valid driver's license and eligibility for coverage under the company auto insurance policy.

Requires a proficiency level typically achieved in 6 years of progressive experience in facilities services, preferably in health care. Requires strong people management skills and abilities. Requires diversified work experience as a maintenance technician, and the ability to demonstrate advanced skills in the field of maintenance and grounds operations.

Ability to read and interpret blue prints, specifications and related contract regulatory documents. Must possess a thorough working knowledge of building codes, regulatory requirements, materials and standards. Must have strong mathematical abilities to analyze, evaluate and compute costs, budgets and schedules. Requires strong written, verbal and interpersonal communications.

Requires the ability to work safely and effectively with infrastructure and utility equipment. Must be able to work independently and effectively align resources to achieve system goals.

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and other related software programs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Strongly prefer an Associate's Degree in facility management or related field.

Previous supervisory experience.

Previous construction experience.

Certified Healthcare Facility Manager.

Other applicable/related certifications, licenses, and/or credentials.
