What you'll do

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Tax Manager to join our team. This role will primarily oversee U.S. payroll tax operations while also providing support for payroll tax issues in other regions, including APAC, Canada, and LATAM, as they arise. The Payroll Tax Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with payroll tax regulations, managing tax reporting and filing, and working closely with internal teams and external advisors to address global payroll tax matters.

This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Director, Payroll.

Responsibility

  • Oversee the accurate and timely withholding, reporting, and filing of payroll taxes for U.S. operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
  • Manage payroll tax audits, resolve discrepancies, and handle inquiries from tax authorities
  • Monitor and interpret changes in payroll tax laws and regulations across multiple regions, ensuring compliance
  • Provide guidance and support for payroll tax issues in APAC, Canada, LATAM, and other regions as they arise
  • Collaborate with internal payroll and finance teams, as well as external tax advisors, to resolve cross-border payroll tax matters
  • Drive process improvements to enhance payroll tax compliance and operational efficiency globally
  • Stay up to date with global payroll tax regulations and industry trends, advising on best practices for compliance and reporting
  • Lead payroll tax projects, including system upgrades, tax filings, and process automation

Job Designation

Remote: Employee is not required to be in or near an office frequently and works from a designated remote work location for the majority of the time.

What you bring

Basic

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in payroll tax management, with a strong focus on U.S. payroll taxes
  • Experience with international payroll taxes, particularly in regions such as APAC, Canada, and LATAM
  • Experience with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
  • Experience with payroll systems and tax software
  • Experience leading payroll compliance for large multinational organizations
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and PC
  • Experience with Google Workspace

Preferred

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and regions
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar certification
  • Experience in leading payroll tax audits and resolving complex tax issues
  • Familiarity with global payroll tax regulations and reporting requirements
  • Proven ability to streamline payroll processes and drive operational improvements in large, complex organizations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze payroll data and make data-driven decisions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership
  • Experience managing vendor relationships, including third-party payroll providers and consultants
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the highest level of discretion

Wage Transparency

Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:

California: $108,700.00 - $168,675.00 base salary

Illinois and Colorado: $103,100.00 - $141,725.00 base salary

Washington and New York (including NYC metro area): $103,100.00 - $149,500.00 base salary

Washington DC: $108,700.00 - $149,500.00 base salary

This role is also eligible for bonus, equity and benefits.
